All sports should be about winning first & foremost & if that doesn't entertain you than you shouldn't watch that sport or you should try to get the rules changed. Hell I love boxing as it is right now, but I wouldn't be opposed to changing the rules of boxing myself. I think going with lighter gloves & the ability to hit an opponent who's getting up from a KD like during the Dempsey days would make boxing WAY more exciting.
Second people keep using the term Sweet Scirnce but totally ignore the latter of the saying which is Of Brusing.
Sports do evolve and fighters like Manny, Duran, Hagler, Hearns, Leonard, Toney, Marquez, Morales, MAB, Pryor, Arguello, GGG, and Kovelev are perfect examples of the evolution.
If you can't think on the fly while throwing punches you're a devolution of the sport.

While these Phony"hardcore boxing fans" have their heads so far up their a55e5, they act like their ***** don't stink out arenas.
These "Hardcore Fans" that don't stick up for the sport are to blame. We have "fans" bending over letting promoters/fighters take them for their money for stale fights.
Practically handing over their money, siding with the fighter's excuse for failing to entertain, and not sticking up for the boxing fans.
They keep lying to themselves, saying they don't get bored.
It's like they want people to know they enjoy watching paint dry, acting like there's some incredible stuff going on behind the scenes that will give them credibility.
When in reality, they're just sitting there, watching paint dry, wasting time, missing out on what the causals are doing, having fun .
You'll never catch the casual fan doing some dumb ***** like that, they're not that ******.
Stop lying to yourself, all these fights fit within two extremes
(Boring--------------------watchable----------------------Entertaining)
Where only about 5% of Phony "Hardcore Fans" would say a boring fight entertained them for what ever reason the use to justify it.
Now because the fake fans are not looking for the viewers best interest in "pure entertainment", fights have tipped over to the Boring side because they let fighters get away with it.
These fighters are now using the excuse of not getting hit, even if it cost them the fight. Fights on the line, and they wait it out, if the opportunity doesn't come as a gift-box birthday present, they're ok with it, even if it means loosing the fight.
As a result there's no passion from these fighters. They just come and take the pay check, no entertainment, just a dry transaction, taking you for your money and time.Last edited by Cinci Champ; 07-16-2015, 11:22 PM.

Boxing is what it is. Good fights and bad ones. Just like 1-0 baseball games, defensive masterpieces in football etc.
I think the problem sometimes casuals think it's like a movie where you get hit and it doesn't hurt or you can just amp up the power pellets to dispatch your foe or neutralize someone way faster and more skilled than you by sheer will.
I think casual fans and some hardcore ones often have unrealistic expectations surrounding boxing whereas they don't in other sports.

i dont agree boxing fans are like a cult. hardcore fans is what keeps the ratings at a certain threshold

Manny's aggressive style vs Floyd's style of boxing
Floyd boxed, Manny failed to be aggressive because he couldn't cut off the ring and couldn't prevent Floyd from landing the right hand. Pointing this out is not suggesting the art of boxing is boring.
Winning, and not entertainment, is the priority of any fight. As such, the actions of any fighter, regardless of style, need to be geared toward winning. As long as they are, excitement should take care of itself.
The progression of the match determines what actions are necessary. If the boxer has a lead, he is not obligated to change and fight in a way that gives the opponent a better chance to win. The opponent needs to press for the win. If the boxer is losing and he continues to box, he is giving up the fight and should be called out for not abandoning that style to try and win.

Fights get boring if fighters clinch too much like Klitscko and Mayweather Clinching is supposed to be illegal so really it should kept to an absolute minimal, but fighters like Floyd, Ward and Klitscko clinch excessively. To make matters worse it becomes part of their tactics to win a fight, especially Klit (he literally relies on it) and Ward.
This is boxing not MMA.
Running is also a problem, lara is a runner and sometimes Khan (vs Peterson and Maidana). You can move around the ring while keeping your form and then there is running. There is a difference.Last edited by SugarRayCurtain; 07-17-2015, 04:56 AM.
