Showtime was able to compete with HBO with a smaller budget by showing excellent matchups that were just off the mainstream's radar such as the Vazquez vs Marquez bouts or Castillo vs Corrales. But that thing appeals to the hardcore fans and is not exactly what Haymon is attempting to do in recruiting new fans to boxers with names. And the PBC model impels them to protect their investments with safe bouts which lack in drama and excitement.

You Crazy...Look Around! Even on Saturday UFC was trending more than Boxing! Boxing was Trending as well but once the UFC Event started it just took over Social Media. Yes Social Media tells a lot because it lets you know what most people are watching.

MMA is a brighter future than Boxing IMO simply because it has a growing fan base while Boxing fanbase right now is a JOKE. Boxing as a sport has no fan base just certain BOXERS have Fan Bases

I enjoyed UFC event way more than I did the PBC Event as well as the Crap on HBO Latino which I struggled to find. Having PBC on Network TV is Vital for boxing because without it I think boxing falls into a deep dark hole in the US after Mayweather and Pacquiao but at least having fights on Network TV that can draw Decent Ratings can help the sport. However the Divide in boxing among fans especially, will be Boxing Downfall while UFC have a young Audience and one those kids grow up and is able to buy their own PPV Events their numbers will CRUSH BOXING!

ESPN Magazine, Sports Illustrated Covers feature Connor McGregor, Ronda Rousey. What Boxers besides Mayweather and Pacquiao do you see on Covers?

And yet that UFC PPV will probably sell 350K. Twitter is not a random sampling

The PBC BRAND is not growing it's actually getting more criticsm and worse ratings as time goes by. The business model can't sustain this for very long.
lol. If you simply follow the profile of the commercials during the PBC broadcasts from the initial Thurman-Guerrero show through Thurman-Collazo, you'd know that your statement was false on it's face.

To then try and act as if the money shakedown by Top Rank and Golden Boy actually points to a tangible case makes you look even sillier.

If you're going to hate, try and base the hate on something actually occurring.

fair points, also HBO has double to triple the showtime subscribers, so when both shows can do around 600-700k viewers that maybe considered bad numbers for HBO while its fair for Showtime. of course it also depends on your budget and etc.

Dana is pretty smart at which fighters to really put out there an market. McGregor Rousey alone command so much attention and they produce. what worries me when they become complacent with what the UFC pays them and start to want large purses considering if they're still on top

I don't get how people can suggest having most fighters under one outfit's regime wouldn't be better than the cluster**** of issues that prevent fights now from promoters, TV affiliations, alphabet groups & so on.
PBC is missing something important that UFC has. Excitement.

When Buffer yells, "IT'S TIIIIIIIIIIIME!!!" you pretty much know it's about to go down. Good, bad, or indifferent, UFC does consistently produce some scintillating action. I think that was part of the appeal. With the light gloves, kicks, and submissions, the audience is pretty much assured that someone is gonna go hurt.

If a fighter stinks it up in UFC, Dana White will call the guy out or make sure he isnt featured as prominently. There are consequences to playing it safe all the time.

Lawsuits this early in the game when you are losing millions at a rapid pace? And no the ratings aren't decent if they were they would have TV Sponsors. That's how it works you get ratings you get people wanting to advertise. So you think the investors expected the tv ratings to plummet each month and for them to have no tv sponsors and be ****** into 2 major lawsuits by this time this year? Come on let's be real so far PBC has failed on every front. Casual fans either don't like it or don't care about it. Hard core fans hate the product and the matchups. Other promoters are suing them left and right. Fans are barely showing up to the fights even when the tickets are free.

Boxing Numbers will look worse than that when Pacquiao and Mayweather are not involved

Cotto vs Canelo should do well

UFC does PPV's almost every month, if they can sell 350k worth of PPV's every month that is actually a win for them while Boxing do PPV's what every 6 months or so?
