Boxing fans really don't do anything now but Complain! Even when they get good match ups they complain. When Schaefer and Haymon was giving fans stacked Cards a couple a years ago people was still complain about something
I think everyone agreed that was the greatest year in recent boxing history. I wish they were putting on those cards now, because I'm pretty sure they're spending more money than they were then.

Very true. I think part of what PBC is trying to do is create new boxing fans. A high percentage of boxing fans these days are absolutely without doubt these grumpy old men who complain about ERRRRRRYTHING. Its hilarious & sad at the same time. But the thing is they aren't going anywhere, even if Leonard Ellerbe was the ringcard boy for all PBC fights. Regardless you do need to attract in some new fans & thats why I think PBC is doing so many different things as the old stuff hasn't worked at freshening up the sport & bringing in new fans. I suspect & see a lot of minor improvements as each new card is shown so I got hopes they can do what they wanna do in a few years, but its definitely a gamble & high risk high reward play they are making.

Maybe because boxing at the moment is hard to root for? The customers are not the problem, the product is, and deep down every single mother****er in here knows that. I love boxing, but Jesus Christ between the ducking, catchweights, mismatches, robberies and the safety-first fighters of today can it even be considered a sport. We need Ali's and Duran's, guys with pride that are worth rooting for.

Top Rank and Golden Boy are filing lawsuits complaining that Haymon is trying to create a monopoly and drive other promoters out of business. My question is what is wrong with that? ? When Lowe's and Home Depot came along, they drove thousands or even hundreds of thousands of small hardware stores out of business. When Super WalMart opened, it drove numerous small retailers out of business. None of these small stores or companies sued or even had the right to sue simply because they couldn't compete.

Yet, in boxing, promoters think they have the right to sue a company that is outperforming them, and gullible fans thinks this makes sense.

The truth is that if Al Haymon were white, these message board would not be full of hate filled comments. Fans would be applauding him for making boxing more competitive and forcing promoters and networks to produce better fights. Instead, fans and people in the industry attack him for doing the same thing that companies have been doing in this capitalistic society of ours for the last 200 years.
Agree with virtually everything you wrote here. Mainly the competition thing. Anyone thinking Haymon is monopolizing the sport instead of outplaying the competition has no clue about monopolies or competition.

I find it odd you seem to imply the fighters, who have so little control of the sport, are the ones causing most of if not all the problems. The main culprits for the problems in the sport are alphabet groups who have saturated the championship level boxer til its now a meaningless term or certainly a less meaningful term than at any point in boxing history, promoters who sign young guys who just wanna make something of their life/career to horrible contracts & who prevent more big fights then they make. Boxers aren't the problem with boxing its all these mfers who don't box, but have all the power.

If I may speak for the younger generation of boxing fans, most casuals don't even know what pbc is. Any time one of my casual friends asks me if there's boxing on,they always ask if its on hbo or showtime, and recently when I've said that it's on pbc, they give me a long blank stare, and I have to take 2 minutes to explain what that is. Hbo and showtime have been the cornerstones of boxing for a while now,and its what people have been accustomed to. And I can guarantee you that people would rather know that when boxing is on,they just have to go to hbo or showtime, instead of channel surfing and specifically trying to look at their channel list for boxing on CBS,spike,or ESPN,and have to sit through repetitive commercials in between rounds.

I'd agree most casuals don't know what PBC is mainly cuz its only 4 months old & they haven't captured the non-boxing fan publics imagination. You don't create a new fan base or get the casuals watching boxing weekly instead of monthly or less frequently THAT quick. PBC is a long play not a short play as so many critics of PBC seem to think. It wasn't likely to have Justin Beiber walking Shawn Porter into the ring on primetime TV already. ***** wasn't going to be tweeting "Problem Solved" after Broner lost.

And no question there are issues with PBC. No one is saying they are perfect out of the gate or will be perfect 4 years from now if they make it that far. No one is saying they will 100% succeed in what they are attempting. This is a risky proposition & they were bound to have some **** ups & will have more in the future just like other ventures in & out of the sport of boxing.
