Anyone else sick of these catch-weights and rehydration clause?

They have weight classes for a reason. Either stay at your weight class or move up to the next weight class above. Stop trying to make up your own weight class and defend a belt that's out of that weight class. What's up with these rehydration clauses? How badly do you want to win when you have to physically deteriorate a fighter? Anyone else sick of this?

I think some catchweights can be acceptable but they have been abused too many times. Rehydration clauses should never be in place.

Heres the thing, lomanchenko is specifically calling out rigo, and demanding that rigo move up in wieght for him. But the fact is that rigo is small for 122,and maxes out at about 124-125 when he gets in the ring. If im not mistaken, lomanchenko rehydrates to about 135-136,so he'd effectively have around 10-12 lbs on rigo in the ring. The kinda hypocritical part of all this is that team lomanchenko keeps crying about walters being too big,and how the have no interest in fighting him. Walters weighed in at 145 for his last fight,so he'd have about 9-10 lbs on loma if they fought, which is actually less of an advantage than loma would have on rigo. If lomanchenko was actually interested in the fight,he'd accept the catchweight of 124,which is 1 lb below what he normally weighs in at,and he should accept the 135 lb rehydration clause, because its basically what he always rehydrates to.

Billy conn was outweighed by 25 plus pounds against the great joe Louis and put up an incredible performance. These guys nowadays just aren't built the same and are full of excuses. Hell Roy Jones did it a decade ago. The landscape has just changed. A great fighter should have no issue being outweighed by a few pounds.

True,so basically both rigo and loma are avoiding situations in which they'd have to face a good opponent, who'd have a weight advantage on them.

Pretty much, guys nowadays will rarely fight each other unless the situation is perfect and there's a ready to go excuse. Look at this past weekend. Tony Harrison got ko'd , his excuse was he was hit behind the head even though the punch that started his end was right on the temple. Collazo quit because of a mild eye injury. It's almost becoming unwatchable due to the excuses.

Both get on my nerves. Everyone trying to be the freaking IBF with these rehydration clauses, stop being a hoe and fight the guy if he can make the weight limit, stop trying to handicap fighters. The catchweight thing really pisses me off. Not so much if it isn't for a title, but if you want to fight for a title in a division then fight at the division's limit. These freakin insecure fighters nowadays. So scared of a loss.

This is a reflection of guys hiding at lower class to have an advantage

You are not sick of that?

Canelo coming at 172 to fight Floyd at 153 was a disgrace . But Floyd asking Canelo for one pound was the big deal here

It only bothers people what affects their favorite fighter. I am more sick of guys like Floyd and Rigo having to be face dudes who cant man up and fight in their body given division. If we didnt have that, we would not have rehydration clauses
