WBC SETS AGREEMENT FOR WINNER OF MIGUEL COTTO/CANELO ALVAREZ FIGHT TO FACE GENNADY GOLOVKIN IN 2016

We might get a rare moment of clarity in the sport of boxing, the middleweight division needed some great news and we finally have some. It’s been reported by Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times that the world boxing council has an agreement in place for the winner of Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33 KO’s) and Canelo Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KO’s) to fight Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KO’s). so now we can figure out who is the undisputed king of the middleweight division.
This is great news, however nothing is all the way finalized in regards to the Cotto/Canelo fight. In a recent article from Boxing Scene Cotto’s team confirmed that negotiations for the fight are 90% done. So once that fight gets squared away we can begin analyzing a Cotto/Golovkin or Canelo/Golovkin matchups.
Significance of WBC announcement is it has deal in place with @Canelo and @RealMiguelCotto saying they***39;ll fight @GGGBoxing if they win.

It’s some great news for the middleweight division, should the WBC hold true to their agreement then we are looking at 2 mega fights within the next 6-10 months after the Cotto/Canelo fight takes place. Gennady Golovkin and his rapidly growing fan base has longed for a “Big Drama Show” which is necessary at this point in his career. He hasn’t fought an A-level fighter in his career due in large part to his opponents fear of getting in the ring with him. Outside of maybe Keith Thurman, there’s not a fighter in the sport of boxing who deserves a mega fight as much as Golovkin. Fans and boxing aficionados want to know just how great Golovkin is and we might find out sooner than later.
