rematch that most needed to happen

Wot is the one rematch in fistory that most should have happened?

The one fight that had an ending so unsavory and left the biggest doubt still ad to whom was the better man?

I think without a doubt lewis vs Vitali...

We still don't know who actually is the better man head to head because of thst disappointing anticlimactic ending to what was some of the best 6 rounds in hw fistory

We saw someone's face get ripped to shreds. I know who the better man was head to head.

Vitali's eye was looking bad but he was doing damage to lewis and was giving as good as he got. His eye just couldn't hold up. Lewis deservedly won but i wish there was a rematch. Vitali was extremely motivated for a rematch but lewis tucked his tail between his legs and claimed no need, even though it was being called for by every one in boxing.

A major one that never happened was De la Hoya vs Trinidad, that fight required a second go around.

Also Chavez vs Whitaker, sweet pea got the shaft in their fight and was never allow to correct a mistake.

Yea true but in all honesty both were past it. And Hagler had totally soured on boxing after their fight so IMO a rematch wouldn't have brought out the best Hagler. Their fight still pisses me off. Leonard was a master at head games and he got Hagler at his soft point in his career. The fight prior Hagler was in a war with John mugabi and Leonard saw something in Hagler where he said to himself he is finally ready to face him. Leonard never got the real Hagler IMO.

Lewis was in the worst shape of his career, literally the heaviest he ever weighed, but he still stopped Vitali in 6 rounds.

A rematch with a properly prepared Lewis would have just ended quicker for Vitali, there was no point, it could have ended Vitali's career early he was never going to beat Lewis.

It's actually good that the rematch didn't happen for Vitali because it allowed him to carve out a great career of his own and become a dominant force after Lewis retired. If he'd got beaten in the Lewis rematch, we don't know which way Vitali's career would have gone. He might have got demotivated and quit the sport and his legacy as we know it wouldn't even exist.

Look what happened to David Price after getting beat twice by Thomson, he's taken quite a few steps back and no one has much hope for him in terms of being a legitimate top tier heavyweight now. Similar thing might have happened to Vitali, he might never have made it big so we should be thankful he escaped a second beating from Lewis and instead took a different, more bountiful path.
