Thomas Hearns vs Floyd Mayweather (12 rounds) - Who Win?

Remember Hearns got KOd by Sugar Ray Leonard in the 14th round in the first fight BUT he was ahead on all scorecards by quite a few rounds at the time to the point that the only way Leonard could win was by KO! If he didn't KO Hearns, he loses.

So if that fight was a 12 round fight, and played out the same way, Hearns would have beaten Leonard by unanimous decision.

Many (but not all) believe Leonard is patently better than Mayweather, because he had more rounded skills, offensively and defensively, so would Hearns beat the more defensive-minded, safety-first Floyd too over 12 rounds?

hearns reach/jab would be too much for him. he knew how to fight on the back foot and was mostly only troubled by pressure fighters. good fight but i reckon hearns win 7-5, floyd is too good to not be competitive with any fighter

Hearns. Big fan of Mayweather Jr but Hearns too big and too long for Floyd.

Hearns could stop him but i doubt it as Floyd never been knocked down let alone knocked out.

Hearns is all wrong for him. I'd always favour Hearns. However, if they did have to fight 10 times, I wouldn't rule out a couple of wins for Floyd.

Hearns is the only guy I would pick with confidence to stop Floyd.

Honestly I think Mayweather is more complete and would rank him significantly higher than Hearns but head to head it's just a bad matchup. Then again that applies to most people against Hearns from 147-154.

Leonard and Mayweather aren't that alike, Mayweather is more comparable to Benitez if anything. Mayweather would have to go out of character to beat Hearns and I don't know he could do it. he would just get picked off on the outside against Hearns and I think he would struggle to shoulder roll Hearns' lightening right hand, with it landing on the top of his head.

Against prime Hearns it's either knock him out, or lose.

At 147 I would pick Hearns to beat Mayweather. I don't think Floyd has the pop to knock Hearns out and Hearns height/reach/speed/power would give Floyd serious problems. Hearns would have the advantage all around if it went the distance or if there was a stoppage.

tommy hearns had the dimensions of a LHW. 78 inch reach. 6'1". and people forget that he was MUSCULAR. he was a huge, huge welterweight. he'd be far too much for floyd.
