The division is very competitive. Even more so than back then but it is true that smaller guys have invaded and they are not all fighting each other. If you take out Trinidad, Ike, Forrest, and ODLH then you don't have the competitiveness that you have today. The pool is very good and much deeper. Now Those 4 fighters I said were very good and probably would be at the very top with Pac and May. If that's what he means. One more thing. Ike fought Oscar, Oscar fought Felix. Ike didn't fight Forrest or Felix. Forrest didn't fight Felix or Oscar??? What's up with that?
Mayweather, Pacquaio, Bradley, Marquez, Khan, Maidana, Peterson, Rios, Ghost, Thurman, Garcia, Porter, Bronner( still have to put him in but just because he is a draw and difficult in the ring), Mathysse, Brook, and probably a few more that you can throw in there. All of those guys make great match ups if you put them together. Maybe most of these guys are not hall of famers but I don't think Felix's era was as deepComment

Right, and not to mention that today's welterweight division are all afraid to fight one another anyway.
This is the era of I can't fight because :
You didn't sell as much PPV'S
You don't make as much money as me
I'm the A-Side and you're still the C-side
I want to wear these gloves but you're only wearing mittens
In Tito's era it was pride or blunder. In today's era it's blunder and skittles.Comment

I think Tito is right to a point, but the main problem seems to be that the guys at 147 just aren't fighting each other.Former three division world champion Felix "Tito" Trinidad feels the current landscape of the welterweight division is of low comparison when reflecting back on the fighters, and fights, of year's past.
Trinidad captured world titles at welterweight, junior middleweight and middleweight but made his name and career at 147-pounds.

I have been saying for awhile now, nobody at 147 has done anything to deserve a Mayweather payday.
Just the opposite in fact.
They have intentionally avoided dangerous opponents, hoping to watch the others fall and be the last man standing.
They want to win the Mayweather payday by default.
For Thurman/Brook/Khan/Bradley/Porter to earn a Mayweather fight, they would need to fight Thurman/Brook/Khan/Bradley/Porter.
Those guys have intentionally avoided dangerous fights heading toward September..... all except Porter, who lost to Brook.
You do not qualify/prepare for Mayweather by fighting Collazo/Gavin/Algieri/Vargas/Broner.Comment
