Rigondeaux is without any doubt the better fighter of the two, however moving up in weight and being a bit older are a couple things working against Rigondeaux, enough so that I picked Loma to win.
"future p4p king" Lomachenko vs "El Chacal" Rigondeaux @126lbs/9 Stone: Who wins?

I actually really enjoyed the guys opinion in this video, gives me hope that there are dedicated and well educated fans who still see boxing as a sport, and not a business. This is of course despite his rant on Uchiyama, who has beaten a lot of the top 10 of his division, including the consensus number 2 guy (this is a separate issue though)
Rigo is a very small 122lb fighter. If he beats Loma at 126, I wouldn't hold back in calling him the best fighter on the planetComment

Firstly, if this fight ever happens, it needs the best judges in the game ringside, eyes that could actually keep up with the small margins and distances.
I've been a huge Rigondeaux homer in the past but I wasn't impressed in his performance against Amagasa, so I narrowly give it to Lomachenko on points. Rigondeaux seems a bit chinny lately, and with Lomachenko's size advantage, that's just enough to sway it for me.Comment

tbh other than the "greatest amateur fighter" hype I don't see any reasoning why someone would think that Lomachenko is the favourite of this fight right now. It's safe to say that it's not based on his pro career. His size... I don't know. Donaire was even bigger and was a certified P4P top 10 fighter, he still didn't give Rigo any problem. Power... We don't know yet but probably Donaire hits stronger than Loma or at least the same.Comment

I may pick Lomachenko because once you add skill with size advantage, then the smaller skilled guy is in trouble
People like to bring up size difference, but what is often they key is size + skill.Comment

Good post. Both fighters are very comparable in terms of skill and ring IQ though. Very close fight.Comment

ohhhhh 50-50~~~~
naw dudes, in terms of skills, ok sure u can argue rigo might edge it (i would disagree). but this isnt chess, its a hurting game.
the mix of rigo's glass chin + loma's size speed and power will make this side 1 sided for lomachenko lol.Last edited by nivek535; 08-20-2015, 09:10 PM.Comment
