Yes, he tried his very best to beat Floyd and simply couldn't. No shame in that, he was up against one of the all-time greats.

The last guy he beat was fighter of the decade won titles in eight weight classes. But he didn't beat anybody worth mentioning doe. People keep making comparisons between fighters in defferent generations is not fair. The seventies to the eighties fighters were drug addicts they were on recreational drugs. Todays fighters are on performance enhancing drugs. And the greats from the good old yester years had the Mob to bennefit or not bennefit from. So therefore fighters should be rated generation by generation.

I wonder if you'd be saying the same if they had Manny ranked higher than Floyd...

              Absolutely spot on.

By his logic, GGG aged 33 and with 33 wins isn't in his prime either.

My question that seems to be being avoided Is who has Mayweather beat that was better than James Toney and who other than Chico Corrales has Floyd beat In there prime.
He beat a prime Corrales which is not as good as a the Toney win. Hatton was juuuuuuuuust barely passed his prime but was still undefeated. Floyd has a ton of guys on his resume who came off of career defining wins... and of course he has a win over the 2nd best guy of this era and it wasn't even close. He might not have that "Toney" win but he has a whole bunch that are just shy of the level of win that Toney was and when you add it all up IMO he has the better resume...

Jr has a couple of good wins over quality prime opponents, Corrales and Castillo and he arguably lost to one of them. The rest is a bunch of past prime fighters, average fighters or fighters coming up in weight. Smoke and mirrors.

It'll all be over soon, the attention dies down, the flomos die off and boxing historians will assess his career with a clear perspective.
The hate will die down. In 15 years when u haters are 70 years old and not into boxing anymore, the new generation of haters will use the greatness of floyd to discredit the guy in their time. Its a cycle

i think more people are mad at the rankings of the other fighters than the ranking of floyd lol. This is cool tho. I believe there was a poll on here and people was puttin floyd at 50+ and saying he was lucky to get that...now most are agreeing with putting him in the 20 and below club.

Political impact aside, Ali isn't even the best heavyweight to put on gloves; Ali gets tagged with the GOAT talk simply because he ran his mouth about it for so long that it stuck with the general public.
