It’s commonplace for fighters claiming to be in peak physical condition heading into any given fight, but for David Price’s sake, let’s hope he means it.

The 6’8” heavyweight endures the toughest test of his current rebuilding tour, facing unbeaten Erkan Teper in a vacant regional heavyweight title on July 17 in Ludwigsburg, Germany. The bout marks his fifth since suffering back-to-back losses in 2013 to Tony Thompson at home in Liverpool, England.

Price gutted his entire team following the losses. Included among the moves made were his signing with Sauerland Event, now fighting for the fifth time away from the United Kingdom, insisting there has been a different feel to his preparation for this particular bout.

I'm glad this fight is happening. I said months ago he would be a fool not to take it. He would be in the title picture with a win. If he can't beat teper then he won't be winning any world titles. I did get a chuckle how so many posters here said he would duck teper. That made no sense to me. They figured because TT knocked him out twice he would avoid this fight. i'm not even sure teper is that big a puncher. I look at him like lucas browne. he laid out some journeymen who scene better days. This is a decent fight. I know teper will throw lots of punches so price will have his chin tested again. pala dropped him so no reason to think teper can't do the same. Price may have to get off the canvas to win. We will also see how teper handles a big HW punch. That is one thing price does have.

People always like to talk about people "ducking" other people because they don't understand fighting. Every fighter wants to win titles. It's just a matter of getting to the right way to get there

If Price winning the EBU title sets up a Joshua fight then awesome, I just don't expect him to get Teper. I thought Price would take a pass on Teper, but having read the thread it suggests he would have been facing a suspension had he done so. If makes me wonder how restrictive a suspension can be ?

Why would price ever take a pass on Teper? He's so incredibly horrible.

not that Price is particularly good, but this guy Teper makes Bermane Stiverne look like 1964 Cassius Clay.

Can't be any excuses, and failure would effectively end any higher ambitions, but if his physical conditioning matches the frame of mind he says he's in big David could well dispose of this guy in a manner that WOULD put him back in the mix. But undefeated, heavy handed Teper will be coming with ambitions of his own so it figures to be entertaining.

so he doesn't fight for the that EBU title again. Many have passed it over but it is a good way to get yourself a ranking in the WBO. In Europe that belt seems to have most value. At the end of the day if he can't beat teper then where does he go from here?

this is a big fight for both & has the potential for some serious fireworks. I got most of teper's fights & he throws a lot of punches for the most part. He had a pretty decent scrap with that French guy duhaupas (he beat charr a month later after losing a close fight to teper)

I don't think he has that natural confidence about him.

He was so circumspect in that 2nd fight with Thompson. Seemed to gas in that fight despite it really being in its infancy. Seemed like a real bundle of nerves - which I suppose benefits some boxers but not Price and not that night. Maloney heaped so much pressure on him.

Price is dangerous though. I think he could probably knockout anyone in the division - massive guy, massive power with a less than stellar chin.

Price is the sort of guy I bet against everytime. Because you just don't know how he will cope.

I hope David Price wins, and rejuvenates his career.

I believe Price can still be a top contender. He showed a lot of potential a few years ago, before he ran into the underrated Tony Thompson.
