as a golovkin fan, this is pretty disappointing to hear. this catchweight nonsense needs to stop.
Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Promoter: We'd Fight Ward at 164, 50-50 Split

Heiland is taking some other fight in August, Tureano Johnson is positioning himself as the mandatory to Lemieux's IBF title. Where does that leave Golovkin?
He doesn't want to fight Lara (asking the fighter being brought in as the opponent to make the fight offer is as ridiculous as if they asked Willie Monroe Jr to make the fight offer), he doesn't want to fight Ward (will gladly fight every other super middleweight at 168 yet Ward, a fighter coming off of a 19-month break and, according to NSB, 2-3 fights away from being all the way ready, has to fight at 164?), and all of the other name fighters at the weight are pretty much tied up.
Who is Golovkin supposed to fight this Fall?
Tony Jeter (WBA #15, WBC #11) [20-4-1], Avtandil Khurtsidze (WBC #13) [30-2-2], and Andrey Meryasev (WBC #10) [17-0] are the only middleweights rated by the WBC or WBA in their top 15 who would be available for a fight September/October.
Have fun selling one of those.Comment

And the world keeps spinning. Better question is who the **** is Golovkin planning in fighting?Comment

Dawson was a super middleweight before winning the light heavy title. He wanted to move back down for a money fight. Ward said ok. If Ward says no to catchweight members here are going to start saying he ducked GGG rather than just saying no to an insane offer.Comment

No, it is Ward who is CANCER for his own career.Comment

This has nothing to do with the thread but it's getting pretty crazy how much traffic GGG produces on these boxing websites. I wish Loeffler took notice so he could get an idea on what the **** to do. I'm a GGG fan but I can't support everything. I don't think he's afraid of Ward or any challenge but Tom is speaking some **** that makes it seem otherwise. Golovkin really needs to come out and clear the air of any bull**** that's going on, in English or Russian-nothing British (we've seen how that got fabricated).Comment

No problems here. I would even take it a step further and say 163 would be more fair. Golovkin is a small MW. He could easily make 154.
I think Ward should take this fight. He's obviously ducking Kovalev, but he has a far better chance of being successful against Golovkin..... He should take the fight. But he won't.
I still love GGG but his Team is turning out to be pathetic.Comment

This^. How many Golovkids here have quoted him saying he'd fight "ANYONE" between 154 and 168? Like everything else, Golovkin's crew talks big while averting legit challenges. This is a smokescreen while they line up the next can. We all know it.Comment
