That's my pick for September 26th...

This will be a PBC event, folks...no way that they would allow a fight like Wilder-Povetkin to be on network television just yet...

Wilder still should fight a better opponent than Arreola, though

If hes going to fight another bum, i wouldn't mind see him fight Briggs. I would give him a pass for that just for the build up and Briggs could very well k.o him.

Id actually accept that fight on the strength that it will finally be the last time we hear of Briggs. Wilder would KO him in the very early rounds easily. There is no way Briggs KOs him.

So in other words let Wilder fight tomato can after tomato can? That's your thinking? He the champ so let him fight who he wants? That the problem with boxing, he's the champ so he gets to fight the tomato cans until their is outcry for them to step it up.

Wilder has stated he wants to make a statement in boxing, so the only way to make that statement is to fight the tough fights and do things people don't expect from you. Fight Povetkin then fight Fury or Klitschko then fight a Jennings. He be big time of he did that kind of run through the heavyweights.

The sanctioning body gives a mandatory challenger and the champion a certain time to negotiate a fight. The WBC has ordered Wilder and Povetkin to begin negotiations in October. It is highly unlikely that any agreement will be signed before then as it is rarely in the interest of the parties involved to rush to the fight.

If the parties cannot reach an agreement (happens often), then a purse bid is ordered where multiple parties can come offer to host the fight. For a recent exmple, Wlad-Fury was settled literally minutes before the purse bidding was set to begin.

Wilder gains nothing by rushing to sign the contract and loses nothing by waiting out the process. The process will play itself out and in the meantime Wilder will stay busy..
Dude I understand how boxing works. You aint schooling anybody. If Wilder wants to make that impact on the boxing world as he said he does. He goes straight to Povetkin and make that fight happen. He can make that fight happen without doing the purse bid and what not. He had his tune up against Molina, so why sit on the title and fight cans. If he follow the sanctioning bodies rules hed be fighting twice a year and one would be a tomato can possible both. I love heavyweight fights and I want Wilder to do good things, so he needs to not do the Haymon thing and fight soft touches. I'll grant a soft touch here and there but not fight after fight. Plus if he was to fight Povetkin and beat him by years end I guarantee you he'd be fighter of the year. And when is the last time the has been a heavyweight who was fighter of the year? That's making a statement

I'm down with that...although a fight with Briggs would be pretty good to watch for as long as it lasts

Wut? He is going to fight Povetkin man. How many times do we have to go through this? Wouldn't he like to see Ryabinsky's purse bid at least? I mean isn't that like smart business to maximize the value of your brain and body?

As I've already demonstrated Povetkin would understand as he defended his WBA strap four times against Molina or lesser types. This is the way boxing works

Briggs vs Wilder is a very even fight with a slight favourite in Briggs!
