The president of the World Boxing Council, Mauricio Sulaiman, is hoping to award a special world championship belt to the winner of the highly anticipated middleweight fight between WBC champion Miguel Cotto (44-4, 33KOs) of Puerto Rico and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (45-1-1, 32KOs) of Mexico.

The fight will take place at a catch-weight of 155-pounds with Cotto's world middleweight title at stake. The fight will take place on a date in November in Las Vegas, either at the MGM Grand or the Thomas & Mack Center.

truth is this is one established fighter and one fighter who is popular bc of oscar, race, and promotion...canelo is privileged not great yet...and i dont know if he ever will be...the truth is i'm more excited for an andrade return than i am this fight...not sold on canelo and i'm hightly sold on andrade...i'd love andrade vs lara more than this fight..andrade might stop lara

if u're betting against canelo still u're a ******...not bc he's great, but bc open scoring debacles, 1114-114, 117-111...this fight is in vegas..canelo's homes are vegas and texas...cotto is a east coast fighter unless he's sharing the promotion equally or B side...
