That's fair enough but wouldn't they prefer him to fight on PPV for more money? Can't see how they'd happily let that sort of money go...

If Floyd were to be fighting on Cbs prime time I think I'd be okay with Berto. I mean he is no slouch. Preferably Khan though, he is realistically the biggest threat

Can anyone actually imagine Floyd walking to the ring alone, standing in the ring alone, no title belts on display, generic music playing... typical PBC dull boring production?

I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you... really great price!

Yea, but at the same time the deal was always about exposure for them and their boxing brand. If they are already well enough off money wise after the 5 fights they may not care enough and eat the rest to gain the extra exposure hoping they can make it up on ads and whatnot down the road.

Floyd would be the issue because he would kind of have a limit on what he could make as opposed to PPV where he is getting a cut (if it does well enough). I suppose they could work out a deal based on the ad pay if that is high enough, but honestly that would be kind of uncharted territory.

I wouldn't mind the Berto fight then if it were free. Should probably move Mares-Santa Cruz as their co-main event, add Errol Spence against a decent body, and throw Broner in there. Not too shabby.

Why would he fight Khan, when Matchroom Sport are the ones with the exclusive deal to have fights on Sky Box Office (the only UK PPV distributor I've heard of) and Khan has been messing with their money (in running from Brook)?

If anything, the move is counter-productive for Khan, as his status as a "bigger star" that Brook, becomes irrelevant with the free TV move, while also putting forward Sky Sports (exclusive deal with Brook's promoter Sky Sports) as the only outlet positioned to charge a premium for the fight.

Doubt that the fight happens on free TV though

Showtime hasn't been making money off of Floyd's PPV. Well, only the Canelo and Manny ones, but they made so much money off of those two the others basically didn't happen. I'd have to think CBS would rather have a 4.4 rating and sell commercials spots to sponsors than have 1 million people maybe buy a fight. As stated it's huge for the brand and they can easily make money up in with sponsorship's.

That makes it even more likely we get a mayfield/Berto type opponent..

Interested to see what kind of ratings this would pull

I think it pulls 25 million viewers,, maybe more.. It will def be the highest rating that night

CBS owns showtime. it is one of the three [four] major networks in the states. i don't really count fox, but i should.
