And by winning the title, he was contracted to pay the sanctioning fees. Contracts work both ways. I don't give a crap how much money anyone made from the fight, they earned it. It does not change the fact that they have their obligations to honor as well. What is it with fighters today? Mayweather does not want to honor obligations of which he is well aware, Cotto refuses to honor his mandatory defense... these guys are supposed to be grown men, not spoiled children who throw tantrums when they do not get their way.

So WBO should ignore their rules for Mayweather and allow him to retain all his titles when they have never allowed any other fighter to do so? Would that not make them a Mayweather or a Haymon puppet instead?

They are not upholding their rules, they extended their own time frame beyond 10 days and are also giving Floyd a chance to appeal. They want the money and are giving him every chance , more than they would any other boxer, a chance to pay it.

If your theory is correct, what do bob arum gets by influencing WBO?

He gets Tim and Jessie fight sanctioned for an interim belt and the winner elevated to full titlist without ever having to earn it in the ring. Not to mention other things.

Yup maybe some are corrupt. But professional boxers should still believe in the importance/significance of the championship belts. Floyd should have just paid the sanctioning fees, imo.

They got the fees from Manny. He was the WBO defending champ.

If they simply stripped him after 10 days without the appeal BS, then at least they'd look like a respectable organization.
