Comments Thread For: WBO Strips Floyd Mayweather of Welterweight Title

And by winning the title, he was contracted to pay the sanctioning fees. Contracts work both ways. I don't give a crap how much money anyone made from the fight, they earned it. It does not change the fact that they have their obligations to honor as well. What is it with fighters today? Mayweather does not want to honor obligations of which he is well aware, Cotto refuses to honor his mandatory defense... these guys are supposed to be grown men, not spoiled children who throw tantrums when they do not get their way.
Can't you at least admit this?Comment

So WBO should ignore their rules for Mayweather and allow him to retain all his titles when they have never allowed any other fighter to do so? Would that not make them a Mayweather or a Haymon puppet instead?Comment

Manny wasn't good enough to take Floyd's belts so now people have to cheer for the WBO.

Hey, is what it is. All of the sanctioning bodies are corrupt.
Barcham just needs to stop acting like the WBO is doing this because of principles.Comment

They are not upholding their rules, they extended their own time frame beyond 10 days and are also giving Floyd a chance to appeal. They want the money and are giving him every chance , more than they would any other boxer, a chance to pay it.

OF COURSE they want the money. How the **** do you think they stay in business? By selling WBO programs and souvenir t-shirts at fights? You guys want everything for free, free fights on television, no sanctioning fees for the fighters... how do you expect things to work if no one is paying for anything? Haven't you noticed? COMMUNISM DOES NOT WORK!

Originally posted by chitoYup maybe some are corrupt. But professional boxers should still believe in the importance/significance of the championship belts. Floyd should have just paid the sanctioning fees, imo.
If they simply stripped him after 10 days without the appeal BS, then at least they'd look like a respectable organization.
Doesn't matter in the large scheme of things.Comment
