  • Comments Thread For: Kiko Martinez: Quigg Has Not Fought High Level Foes

Kiko Martinez says that Scott Quigg’s technique is ‘close to perfection’ – but he’ll take his WBA World Super Bantamweight title by dragging him into a war at the Manchester Arena on July 18, live on Sky Sports.

Martinez travels to Manchester in an attempt to become a two-time World champion and he’ll have to end the reign of the unbeaten Bury star who defends the belt for the fifth time and has stopped three of his previous four challengers inside three rounds.

‘La Sensacion’ landed his IBF title in stunning fashion in August 2013 stopping the unbeaten Jhonatan Romero in America before stoppage wins in his first two defences against Jeffrey Mathebula and Hozumi Hasegawa.

yes this is scotty's first real fight after 35 or however many, now we'll see if he's any good. He's probably in two minds whether to run or try and pressure kiko, either way he's geting knocked out. Sorry mate!

Not true. He's at least tested himself against boxers, which is more than I can say about about fighters in his division. He faced Salinas who I believe is a more talented fighter than Kiko.

Kiko will get stopped or schooled in this one.

Don't fancy Quigg against Frampton, but he'll deal with Martinez.

have a look at salinas's record, he lost to someone who wasnt very good, he got ko'd by a 15-7 guy.

I actualy rekon kiko could beat frampton, if it was in spain and the ref didnt let him hold so much.

I think Kiko will be shocked at how physically strong Quigg is. Don't expect Scott to outright brawl with the Spaniard but he won't run either. Going to be great to watch. What's not to like about Martinez - he's all heart and commitment, dangerous too, and will fight till he drops, but I see Quigg using a bit of everything in there to get the upper hand before eventually bringing Kiko down, likely with body shots, in a performance that may well cause some (but not all) of his critics to view him in a different light.

Kiko is very one dimensional IMO.

                Nothing special at all.

                Quigg beats him easily.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Kiko stopped Quigg.

                    What a cartoon you are

Kiko got pretty easily battered twice by Frampton. I don't even rate Quigg but he'll probably stop him.
