Comments Thread For: Sergio Martinez Has No Regrets Over Retirement

Former two-division world champion Sergio Martinez (51-3, 28KOs), 40-years-old, has no regrets over announcing his retirement a few weeks ago. Martinez last fought in June of 2014, when he was beaten and stopped by Miguel Cotto, who picked up Martinez's WBC middleweight title with the victory.

His body was injured coming into that contest with both knees keeping him out of the ring for over a year when he stepped in the ring.

Bravo Sergio. Just wish the boxing world had discovered him earlier. Such an amazing talent and such heart.

His career was pretty much over and he only had one fight left, best move he could have made was to cashout aganst Cotto. I'm a fan a GGG but he doesn't bring in the payday that Cotto does.

At least he went out losing to someone good. It would have been horrible to see him lose to some nobody 30th ranked middleweight because of his knees.
