Comments Thread For: Cotto's Experience Will Trump Canelo, Says Moore

WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33KOs) and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (45-1-1, 32KOs) are on a collision course for the fall, likely in November, and fans are already getting prepared for what many expect to be an all-action contest.

Former fighter and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Moore broke down the fight for the UK network, giving Cotto the edge to victory.

Although older, Cotto has by far faced the better level of opposition - giving Moore the security to select him as the winner. Cotto is seen by a lot of experts as the underdog.

I can't remember Cotto's last good victory, but OK. Canelo can be beaten...he tires quickly and isn't terribly active in the ring next to a guy like Cotto. Still I think his youth and size advantage will win out.

I agree with you, but it's going to be one hell of a fight! Can't wait let's get this fight done!

Canelo I think takes us one and will probably bet on him to win..I wonder what the odds will be for the fight.. One common opponent for both is Trout. Canelo beat trout, Cotto did not

Therrs no denying what Cotto has accomplished in the sport. As far as currently, i dont rate Cotto as high as others do bcuz honestly he couldve fought better comp. I rate Canelo higher for that very reason, hes recently been facing the overall bettr comp and that will show in this fight. Im not predicting a Canelo KO but thats not far fetched, but i am predicting a Canrlo victory.

...that is if Cotto doesnt duck again. Anybody notice Cotto was only interested in this fight ehen Canelo had a "sprained ankle"?

I give Cotto a slight edge given he has a good jab which he should utilize a lot with Canelo. It was shown in the Mayweather and Lara fight that if you stick with a good jab and use your footwork, you can give Alvarez problems. Now will that please the crowd? No it will not but see I that as the only way of Cotto winning. If he tries to slug it out Canelo will dominate him for sure.

He last three victories were good but unfortunately against Martinez who was older and hadn't fought in a year, then Rodriguez and Geale who were easy pickings. However not every fight is gone be tough. Its safe to say Canelo will be best fighter Cotto's fought since Mayweather. The question if Cotto can compete at that level after winning his last three comfortably will be answered. I give him a chance though if boxes smart and uses that jab.

                  Moore Is An Idiot

Cotto's experience gets him past the halfway point of the fight. Canelo gives Cotto one helluva beatdown stopping him around Rd 10.

My boy Cotto lost to Trout because of SIZE! It's part of the reason he will lose to Canelo. Canelo will be too strong and too BIG for Cotto. Cotto and Manny are my two favorites, and Ward but the truth is the truth. Canelo's ring IQ and defense is very underrated. They are underestimating his ability to adapt to what his opponent is doing. Just watch the Lara fight again. The first 3-4 rounds, Lara was out boxing Canelo. Canelo adjusted to Lara's movement and started to catch Lara, especially to the body. The second half of the fight, Lara went from boxing effectively, to flat out running! That's why he lost. Why didn't he stop and fight more? Because Canelo was too strong!!! He would've KO'ed Lara. That's why. Canelo will KO Cotto in about 8-9 rounds.
