I'd like to see where he pulled that number from? Why would signing Mayweather to a PPV ONLY deal, which means you have no need of being a subscriber to watch the fight, bring in 3 million new subs to Showtime? A show like Californication or Shameless probably brought them more subs than boxing ever has.

The guy is a tool and makes the same kind of posts over on the RING web site comments. Thankfully I can put him on ignore and not have to read him here, something I wish I could do on RING but cannot.

The PBC broadcasts so far have been leading the 18-54 demographic, the only demgraphic that advertisers care about, during their timeslot for most of the PBC shows.

If they continue to deliver in that demo, the channel that picks up the PBC series will have programming that would, in essence, deliver the strongest potential ad revenues for the time slots being filled.

Once HBO decided to run a competing card on the same night, there was no reason to keep talking about the massive number, since the audience would've been halved anyway. Again, people don't keep timelines for anything here.

Beyond that, let's make things plain; I don't enjoy seeing fights where the favorite walks in 40:1 up, To me that's not fun to watch. People can wet themselves over Golovkin punching out a can, or Canelo trouncing a James Kirkland (seconded by a trainer who hadn't had success at any level, pro or amateur); I'm not one of those people and I don't care for any of HBO's original series either.

Showtime has consistently delivered the better fights and fight cards, so i stick with Showtime (Did head to my regular bar to see Hopkins-Kovalev, and have yet to miss an Andre Ward fight, so I headed out for those too).

21.3m homes in January 2012, ~22m homes by March 2013, and ~27.7m homes as of February 2015. If there was any other possible catalyst to drive near 6m homes to pick up Showtime just after Floyd signed with Showtime, I'd like to read it.

Beyond that, when Showtime signed Floyd to the 6-fight deal, they weren't just getting 6 PPV fights; they got all of the support programming featuring Mayweather (All Access, etc), they were able to air the fight replays on Showtime, and they also got all of the 'Mayweather Sweepstakes' fight cards (Canelo-Trout, Maidana-Broner, Porter-Brook, etc), in addition to having boxing's biggest star as the face of Showtime Boxing
