I forgot this ****** fight was happening. I have no idea why Haymon/the powers that be aren't behind Thurman more by now. He should be getting way bigger/better fights than this.

Playing it safe by building up a guy that was already built when he signed him.

They know tht the majority of the public is naive to what happens in boxing, so they can have Thurman beating up on opponents that weren't supposed to win from the beginning. Guessing the idea is to train the public to believe their stars are unbeatable.
