Comments Thread For: Collazo Impressed With, But Not Intimidated By Thurman

With more than 15 years logged in service, Luis Collazo is smart enough to know the role he is expected to play. The former welterweight titlist—now 34 and believed to be on the wrong side of his prime—comes in as a major underdog heading into his July 11 ESPN-televised showdown with unbeaten rising star Keith Thurman.

The bout takes place at USF Sun Dome in Tampa, not very far from Thurman’s hometown in Clearwater, Florida. In addition to conceding hometown advantage, Collazo is also asked to put it all on the line against a fighter being hailed as the future of the welterweight division. [Click Here To Read More]

I forgot this ****** fight was happening. I have no idea why Haymon/the powers that be aren't behind Thurman more by now. He should be getting way bigger/better fights than this.

      it takes two to tango

no one is particularly in a hurry to get in the ring with him. Except I suppose Spence but then again we all know that fight isnt realistic at this time.

Why the heck is this fight even happening? I would pick Thurman to beat anybody at 147 yet they keep feeding him tomato cans (minus semi shot Guerrero).

Straight bullcrap is what it is. Thurman deserves a big fight.

Anything less than Thurman blasting Collazo out in the first half of the fight is unacceptable. And he better get a good fight afterwards, otherwise it's time to start asking who exactly is holding him back.

It's not a great fight - decent exposure for Thurman, he gets to headline another PBC network debut (ESPN). Not a bad spot to be in as long as he handles business and gets right back to seeing who else wants to fight.

This fight for me depends on his next one. It's good that he's staying active... but Haymon has a deep WW stable... so if he fights a Collazo then a good WW next, it's all good.
But if he fights Collazo after Collazo an so on... then nah.

Go hard, Collazo. Force Thurman into a fight. Don't give him any breathing room, suffocate him. You can make this a good fight if it's a determined effort.
