Not really. Hatton was an unranked welter with zero creds at 154, 150 or whatever CW they fought at. Of course there was a bevy of contenders ready and available for that date

Canelo's is more top heavy, but a resume is everything, not just the guys at the top.

A lot of the names on Canelo's resume were way past it. The Lara score was questionable and the Trout fight, while I thought Canelo won. I thought the open scoring made Trout fight differently.

I'm going to lean toward Canelo, but I think it's closer to equal than other posters do.

GGG's resume is severly lacking in the elite opponent department. Canelo resume's is definitely superior and is about to widen the gap after stepping in the ring with Cotto. Furthermore, GGG chasing semi-retired Froch, welterweight Mayweather and other smaller opponents, does nothing for his legacy.

Definitely Canelo. I think, along with fighting better fighters on paper, something else which gives him the edge is his age. Canelo's 8-9 years younger than GGG and his roster stacks up better. Imagine what it will look like when he's 33 years old.

Agreed. Even though GGG would beat Canelo if/when they fight, resume wise Canelo currently has him beat.

If all the top middleweight contenders fought GGG today, Canelo would still have a better resume.

agreed, is the MW division that wont help GGG, if GGG was a JMW fighter since he started his career his resume will be similar or better...

Why do people on this forum start threads asking questions that they already know the answer to? WTF?

Canelo is a middle. I'd say destroying him would put GGG on top.
