lots of things go into the lack of outrage. the biggest one is that people aren't huge on vargas. he's been in bad fights, and he's had some close calls go his way.

i thought it was a good fight. i was pleasantly surprised.
for as much as i'm convinced that vargas wouldn't have KO'd him, pat jacked me still, yo.

What I'm getting at is that if you KO your foe 3.5/10 and this occurs it's not as bad as it is when you KO your foe KO 9/10.

I would be much more worked up if the same thing happened to GGG, because then all these wild and slightly whiny statements by the offended party (in this case Vargas) would have far more merit and be far less puto.

after the fight he pissed blood, and by all accounts was never really the same fighter or man.

There's nothing to explain here. In this era people just happen to dislike Vargas because of his style, opposition faced, or whatever reason. People like Bradley for what he gave in the Provo fight and became a fan favorite and he is good guy. There's no real reason to hate Vargas as well but that's just what it is.

Boxing fans are extremely fickle but I think most people would agree Bradley would of survived so they just roll with it. Vargas needed a KO/TKO within 7-8 seconds because it was mathematically impossible for him to win with just 1 knockdown.

One thing I don't know is, when was the 10 second clap/noise introduced?

If there's a verbal 10 second warning to the ref in 1990 then Steele should of heard it and knew that knockdown count was practically the fight. He stopped it because he didn't get a response from Taylor.

The difference here is Taylor was stopped on a knockdown count whereas Bradley/Vargas were still fighting on the inside because Bradley didn't actually go down.

it sucks that sometimes in this fight game, you need to lose to make a fan.

i'm a big vargas fan, he got that grit in him that lasts until the last round of a fight against a solid HOF candidate.
