Wilder fans should be thankful Don King let Stiverne in with Wilder for his first defense. Now that Wilder has a title they think he can just avoid a mandatory. Imagine if Stiverne just went and ran off with the title

You just know Wilder's management is all over the phone with the sanctioning body saying how much money everyone will lose if they throw away "The next Muhammad Ali" against some "unknown Russian" etc etc and how it would make far more sense to give him a "special extension fee" or some other rule that will be invented out of thin air because nobody keeps track anymoreComment

" I am always ready to be tested, and prove that I am clean "Russian heavyweight contender Alexander Povetkin (29-1, 21 KOs) is ready for his mandatory shot at WBC titleholder Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs). Povetkin became the mandatory after last month's wipeout of Mike Perez in a single round. For his end, Wilder made the first defense of his title by knocked out Eric Molina in nine rounds.
The World Boxing Council will order negotiations for the month of October.
Wilder is said to be interested in having one more fight before facing Povetkin, who plans to wait for his title shot.

The WBC will have no problem doing that. Just look at the Cotto-GGG belt situation, Cotto has his voluntary and gets another one to face a guy who hasn't "officially" fought as a middleweight.
