Comments Thread For: Thurman Explains His Strategy To Beat Floyd Mayweather

BoxingScene.com recently caught up with WBA "regular" welterweight champion Keith "One Time" Thurman (25-0, 21KOs). The unbeaten puncher is scheduled to return to the ring on July 11th on the PBC series debut on ESPN against former champion Luis Collazo.

Thurman has campaigned for a fight against WBC/WBA/WBO welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. for well over a year. If he is able to secure the fight, he said that he has studied Mayweather and has picked up on a few of his flaws.

if u really wanted to fight floyd why are u not fighting better opposition. if the rumors are true he has turned down porter, alexander, peterson, and others. i dont know i just dont get it personally. Though i think thurman is just another fighter that doesnt beat floyd unless floyd age catches up but would make sense if he got himself a big win. guerrero was a big win but hes gone backwards since and even guerrero was not even close to the same fighter he used to be

I like Thurman, but after the gurerro fight, I don't see him giving Floyd any challenge whatsoever.

Guerrero was his best opponent up to date and he handled him with ease. So why after the Guerrero fight?

Thurman is a good boxer but if it all it took to beat Mayweather was to trade rights he would have been defeated a long time ago. He's much too slow to bother Mayweather. It would be probably be Mayweather's easiest win since Marquez.

Waste of time to discuss. Keith is too high risk/low reward to be Floyd's last fight

All what Thurman said maybe right, but once he thinks he has Floyd figured out... Floyd well, clinches and hug and off sets rhythm with another rinse and repeat before u won't even know it.
