    Mayweather-Golovkin is Mayweather-Canelo Pt. 2

Seriously. I don't know how so many people are thinking it's a good fight, especailly when it's going to happen at 154!

    1. GGG WILL be drained at 154.

GGG has never fought at 154. Never! He turned pro in 2006 at 160lbs. If anything, GGG should probably be moving up now. At 154, he WILL BE DRAINED. His power won't be there as much as it is at 160.

    2. GGG is an easy style for Mayweather.

GGG just moves forward. He is not elusive. He just moves forward. Stylistically, this is a style that Mayweather feasts on. We have seen Mayweather fight this kind of style countless times. We already know what the result will be.

It's a fight that will make the casual fan get excited but any real boxing student knows how this fight will play out: Mayweather will beat GGG at 154 like he beat Canelo. This is a pointless fight. At 160, it will definitely be interesting, but we really can't expect Mayweather to fight at such a high weight. Let's not forget that Mayweather turned pro at 130 lbs. It's too much to ask of Mayweather to move up to 160. He's comfortable at 147.

I don't want to see this fight.

I would love to see it and hope Mayweather returns to HBO and makes the fight rather than a pointless Manny rematch.

Agree, but they are a little different. Canelo has much much better hand speed than GGG and his punches are straighter. GGG throws wide and slow punches. GGG is bigger and stronger than Canelo though. It would be about foot speed, not sure if GGG can cut off the ring against Floyd. He'll have a punchers chance though.

Seriously, how can people compare GGG to Canelo? Canelo couldn't ko old SSM, he struggled with Trout and wasn't a feared fighter. GGG stops everything in sight, people cant last the distance with him, he is talked about as being potentially the best middleweight ever if he continues as he is doing.

That should be the main focus, rather than Canelo supposedly having a bit faster hands and straighter punches?
But if you drain GGG than he is not much more of a threat to Floyd, as he wont have the gas to chase Floyd around the ring.

The difference is Canelo is not a pressure fighter whereas 3G is. Canelo has no problem boxing you in the middle of the ring, where naturally that is his style. He's a boxer puncher (counter puncher) by nature. 3G is a methodical hunter who presumably has more power than Canelo (debatable.) The X factor would be if 3G is as powerful as advertised and if he can get to Mayweather can he hurt him and/or break him down.

Id be down to see it.

If you think that canelo and ggg are the same, then you must not be a verry good "boxing student".

I don't believe for a second Golovkin can make 154 healthy. It would shock me.

But don't compare him to Alvarez. He fights nothing like Alvarez and is much, much more dangerous to Mayweather. "He just moves forward?" Yeah, while cutting off the ring as well as anyone in the sport, using a hammering jab, and having steel in his fists. He'd move forward right through everything Mayweather throws and beat his ass.

While i agree that he's not elusive, GGG is very smart in terms of his pressure. His opponents still seem to have trouble avoiding his shots so he might not be all that slow. If GGG can up his work rate significally, he has a decent shot. If he was nothing but power, he would've been defeated by now in my opinion.
