Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Porter Deserves The Mayweather Fight

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya is very happy for Shawn Porter (26-1-1, 16KOs), who this past Saturday night won a twelve round unanimous decision over Adrien Broner at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

De La Hoya's company promoted Porter (and Broner too) for several years. Porter left their banner as part of the severed business relationship between Golden Boy and manager/adviser Al Haymon.

Because of Broner's controversial antics, De La Hoya was never exactly a big fan of the boxer.

I was kinda with him until that last sentence. Shrug, Porter should be in the running but who knows what Mayweather is going to do anymore.

Mayweather will avoid Porter he doesn't like to fight in your face pressure fighters he has two controversial decisions against these type of fighters and stayed miles away from Margarito so he'll stay away from Porter too

WHaaaaat!! I really don't get your guys logic at all. He beats pauli malignagi and adrien Broner and deserves a mayweather fight!!???

Kell Brook and Amir Khan have wayyy better cases. Brook schooled porter, and what about a guy like Mattyste???

              ''If I was Porter's promoter..."

He's not, so he should shut the fuck up. Kind of obvious that he is trying to capitalise on the Mayweather carrot being good for one more bite.

Porter is grossly overrated but him getting the fight wouldnt hurt anyone. Truth is Floyd has beaten everyone and now he should just get one last fight and an easy fight before he can retire. It doesn't matter who they bring but I would rather have Marquez.

Porter will not get the fight simply because he has no following. If you are Going to challenge Floyd, you must meet the prerequisites. You must either be from a different country and very popular, or be a very popular fighter in the U.S.

Otherwise, it will without a doubt bring down Floyd's PPV numbers.

If you search YouTube, you'll find a video, in which, Sam Watson is hanging out with some friends outside somewhere and he admitted that Floyd will never fight a black fighter. I was able to read between those lines.

There just aren't any black fighters, other than Floyd, that have a huge following and that will draw in the masses.
