Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Lemieux Will Face Golovkin, But Next Year

Canadian star David Lemieux (34-2, 31KOs) accomplished a career goal this past Saturday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal. In a sensational fight, Lemieux picked up the vacant IBF middleweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Hassan N'Dam, who went down four times in the contest.

While fans are now screaming for a unification with WBA/IBO champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin, Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya confirms that Lemieux's first obligation is to make a mandatory defense of his IBF crown.

we've had some pretty good fights this year... can't go into 2016 all dried up of good matches. I guess, I'd still rather see it this year.

        Shocking news.

The owner of a waning company wants to protect one of his few prized assets left.

I was sure they'd throw him in with GGG straight away

Oscar is full of ****. I've read that the I.B.F. was perfectly ok with Lemieux bypassing his mandatory to unify with Ggg. He needs to stop telling lies, like the fans believe that bull****s. Like he's thinking about coming out of retirement and he wants to fight Ggg. He's trying to piggyback off of Ggg for his failing company.
