Recognized as the world’s most dominant boxer, the middleweight world champion has compiled a record of 33-0 with 30 stoppages, a knockout percentage of 91% -- the highest in middleweight division history. Golovkin has now recorded 20 straight knockouts.

ESPY is a popularity award, so Golovkin could win it.

The category is " best fighter ", so he should not even be nominated.

Why are you getting mad? It's an honest question. He shouldn't be receiving any awards that have "FIGHTER" in the title, but he should be up there alongside Caitlyn Jenner receiving the ****** Courage award for finally agreeing to fight a one-armed, shot Pacquiao.

      Why are FloStans getting upset?

Because his sport is not called "fighting", but he does fight, just not the way YOU would like. fighting the way you apparently like, leads to short careers, fighting the way he does leads to selling more ppvs, not losing, and the highest selling PPV's in prizeFIGHTING. You apparently like the no defense, all offense style of boxing or fighting, face first brawling, that doesnt lead to being the BEST BOXER in the sport of BOXING and thats cool, but dont expect those kind of fighters to be acknowledged as the best in the sport. I can go to any bar to watch that, and it is not skill

Fl0mos getting worked over a popularity contest

Chillax guys, like I said, it's just a popularity contest. And number 1 draw in the sport might lose it to a face first, unskilled brawler.

        Or a woman.

If you consider having 20 ko's in a row the best fighter, then Wilder deserves it more because he knocked out 30+ in a row at HEAVYWEIGHT...

It'll be between Rousey and Mayweather you'd think.

Wonder who's beaten up more women this year?

Then again, they probably all put up more of a fight than Golovkin's opponents.

I'm shocked ESPN even having Bud on the list.

Anybody that knows boxing knows that a fighter like GGG only comes along about every 20 or 30 years. Mayweather is faster but GGG can cut the ring down better than any boxer over the last quarter century.
Based on what? That long list of murderous punchers and elite boxers on gggs resume?

Ggg might actually be the goods, but it's not that hard to look great against the fighter he has fought so far
