maidana should have tossed bayless out of the ring or ko him by "accident".

these refs need to pay for their incompentence. make them earn that bribe by taking some extra liberties.

against wlad,, povetken was well within his rights to consider lois pabon a second opponent

The reason clinching is allowed is because these nuthuggers want to watch their fighter win by any means necessary. There should be a standard rule set for this type of bllsht. Like a set #of clinches per round and a limit per fight. As long as the fans don't complain and keep watching this will keep happening.

Most likely if you're the one getting excessively clinched, your going to loose either way, so might as well go out swinging.

Get disqualified, so be it, at least you got their attention, and the next guy comes at you wanting to clinch, he knows he's going to get teared up.

Why take a Loss when the guy is being a b!tch, take the DQ and make him look like the b!ch , lol

f@k it, no clincher is going to be safe.
I agree with all of the above 1000% Excessive clinchers are annoying as ****s. If the ref doesn't do anything about it, make it known that you're pissed and put the law into your hands. Lift the clown up and slam him on the floor. It's better to get DQ'd than get mauled and insulted by a cheater.

it really makes no sense why referees don't deduct more often for excessive holding since it's clearly outlined in the rulebook that it is illegal. so why the **** is there such a huge grey area?

Felix Trinidad was a master at not letting his opponents clinch him. When his opponent would attempt to hold, Tito would dig his left elbow into his opponent's chest, creating distance, and then hit him with a big left hook.

retaliating may help but really depends who you are and who your opponent is. For example, if Floyd is fouling and Maidana retaliates, Maidana automatically gets points deducted. Floyd then gets the fight to go his way plus his opponent is down by at least a point. That is what Floyd is looking for. Then it will actually allow Floyd to do it even more fouling.

On the other hand, if the ref stops the nonsense early in the fight, then we usually have less fouling.

Broner was just excruciating to watch because of all that fouling. It took to long to deduct a point. By that point, the fight is over already and the fans got to see a dud of a fight.

Holding cheats like Floyd and Bernard should be disqualified for excessive holding idiot fans today think this is the new slick way of fighting compared to Whitaker or Benetinez

The constant clinching is just painful to watch, especially when you understand what could potentially happen if the fight were allowed to be fought on the inside.

The bottom line is fighters are employing an illegal tactic to avoid possible punishment; it's like turning your back to your opponent or hiding behind the ropes.

I remember when Berto received a point deduction in the 3rd round of the Collazo fight; it turned an ordinary fight into an FOTY candidate. Collazo exploited Berto's lack of inside defense for the remainder of the fight. Berto still won (arguably), but we got to see both fighters dig down deep and fight their asses off.

Fighters with no inside defense would have to develop theirs or risk having it exploited.

We need to bring this important subject into the forefront. This part of the sport is terrible. Refs should be suspended for doing nothing about it.

Not possible when the ref has the excessive clincher's best interest in mind. Such as the case of Kenny Bayless and Fraud Mayweather Jr.
