Johnson would do in a pinch, but he should strictly be a last resort kind of option which was pretty much that May list. I would hope they could dig up someone a bit more.

Johnson isn't terrible but a guy who is not really supposed to be in there with a top of the heap guy. Especially when the last guy that top of the heap guy fought is essentially in the same class.

If they lose to Carl Froch, they still get paid. Who the *** wouldn't want to fight Carl Froch in and around that weight? He's the cash cow, dummy.

Lara is a potentially tricky fight with nowhere near as a great a reward. No one said they were terrified of Lara but they'd rather not risk Golovkin looking bad against him when they can knock over another bowling alley cleaner to keep the hypetrain going.

johnson looks like a decent fighter but i'd like to see him and heiland duke it out in an eliminator. the winner of that fight would be a solid contender for any of the middleweight straps
