There is money in a Ward fight and Ward is a HBO guy so that can be made without having to deal with Haymon vs HBO politics. But GGG and his handlers know they will lose that fight. And GGG wants to stay at near 160 for the bigger named fighters. GGG and his handlers are not scared of Lara there is just no MONEY in that fight and it will be a ugly fight where even when he wins he won't look good doing it. He will decision Lara but not knock him out because Lara will not engage. If Lara ran from Canelo why does anyone think he will stand and fight the bigger GGG? Ward or Chavez is where the money is if he goes up. If he stays he just has to wait till Lemieux, Canelo or Cotto, or very long shot Mayweather fights him. Which is best case scenario next year. If Lara wants GGG move to 160 and beat a few guys to earn a mandatory shot. Otherwise GGG or any big name fighter has no reason to go out there way to fight him. He brings NOTHING to the table.

He just tried to headline a show for SpikeTV 2 weeks ago and it was a disaster. You don't get a GGG fight after that performance and after you failed to pack the arena and got putrid TV ratings.

Currently there is NO money in a Ward fight. Why the hell do you think he was fighting on a time buy deal on BET? Because HBO was just drooling to get him back on their network? No, both HBO and Showtime sent him to the curb and it may be a few fights before he makes it back to HBO. There certainly is not enough money to pay whatever Ward would expect to fight GGG. If he got $2 million for Smith, he would want at least 5 for a Golovkin fight. Golovkin being the A side, would then expect at least the same amount. That moves the fight to PPV status and neither Ward nor GGG are PPV level yet.

HBO was on the verge of losing Floyd! Vanes was with Top Rank who at the time was not doing business with Golden Boy or Haymon dyck head. Hopkins was the last fight because that fight was signed before they knew it was official Floyd was leaving. ggg could try and negoitate and work something out with Lara if they wanted to dumb ass. And the difference with Lara and Mayweather is Mayweather is a big fighter and the money is so great that they might be willing for HBO and Haymon to break bread together. You do that for mega fights and big names. You don't do that for no named Lara who flopped on SPIKE TV and gets booed in his own headlined showcase fights.

If Ward is willing to accept that he is the B side and willing to accept B side money, that fight could be easily made. Or if Ward's rich promoter is willing to put up the money, that fight could be easily made.

But if Ward is expecting a high payday and to be the A side, he will need another year or two to build up his brand to the point where he deserves it. By that time, GGG will no longer have any use for a Ward fight.

There is no possibility of a purse bid in the Lara situation because Golovkin is contracted exclusively to HBO. That means he cannot fight on another network, any other network. And HBO will not give permission for one of their biggest stars to be used by Al Haymon to promote his PBC operation and Haymon will not allow Lara to fight on HBO and receive triple the ratings he got on Spike causing a huge embarrassment for PBC. That fight is not happening and only a complete idiot would still be asking for it. Not to mention that it is a totally pointless fight for GGG and a no win situation. Even if he KTFO Lara in the first round, people will say he beat up on a smaller guy.
