He also did better than Ricky Hatton, Oscar Dela Hoya and a string of others it doesn't suddenly make him a great fighter or better than them. Just a tough guy who can take one hell of a beating. Did he even land a single punch against Manny? or Abril for that matter. He did nothing in either fight and won't against Brook.
I like Brook, always have but its time people started calling a spade a spade and said enough of these cherrypicked mismatches. I give many other fighters **** its only fair I do the same to fighters I am a fan of.
Rios is not world class the only win he has in years is to a junkie who practically had to be put on a drip just to have the energy to walk himself to the ring.

To top it he has not only fought Jojo Dan, Gavin and soon to be Rios but all three will of been PPV!
He could beat all 3 of these guys in the same night! The reason promoters get away with it is because boxing fans will buy any old **** they are fed. Eddie Hearn is taking you guys for a ride and laughing his way to the bank.
Speaking of Chris Algieri that will probably be Kells next PPV opponent, Hearn knows you will buy it on the hope Kell does better than Khan so you can try get a 1 up there.

Thurman is also not that far away from his Collazo fight and will most likely have found another opponent by the time Rios fight is done. He is crying out for a decent name to fight him too so he would be ****** not to jump at a chance to fight Brook.
Brook holds the only title not held by Mayweather so I think he is worth the risk for Bradley or Thurman.
I feel like all this Rios fight is achieving is taking Brook off the market for when negotiations for proper fights could take place.
If Deontay Wilder (similar situation to Brook) did the same thing, fighting a **** mandatory, then a complete no hoper, then a faded former ok Cruiserweight we would rightly call him out. Brook deserves the same criticism.
Same thing with the Thurman fight. It will likely need to be in America. Thurman can yabbber all he wants about coming to the UK but Haymon makes the decisions for him as seen by this Collazo fight. Haymon bid over $3m to get homecourt advantage for Andre bloody Dirrell. He isn't just going to send one of his prized assets over here willy nilly.
Fans need to be more patient. Brook is still a virtual unknown quantity over there. Rios is just a way of putting him over with a US audience more.
It depends if it benefited Wilder's career or not. If Wilder fought David Haye who is basically a faded former cruiserweight who hasn't fought in 3 years, would it be criticised? Maybe by some but it would be huge for Wilder's career to beat him.

Rios has a punchers chance. They have to work on fighting dirty to contrast the Brooks tendency to clinch.
