Concentrating on good fundamentals and knowing how to outthink your opponent are very important. Hell, if Maskaev whacks out Rahman again, then the eastern Euro's will hold all four belts by years end. With the number of up and coming young Euro heavies on the scene I think a takeover is inevitable and has basically already begun.

Only thing they're taking over is the hype machine. Wlad is meticulously selecting weak opponents so that he can call himself a champion. Brewster will beat Sergei in a rematch. And Maskaev is borrowing Wlad's hype machine. He has done nothing to garner the ranking that he has.

      Maskaev is Golota 2006.

Maybe encorporate a European style of fighting in our training? What does BS think? Your reply's are apprecciated.

        Styles make fights.

The Europeans have the style to take over the division with the lack of American boxer punchers.

WHo are Wlad's weak opponents lately? Lamon Brewster-not weak. Sam Peter-definitely not a weak opponent. Chris Byrd-I think he's not that good but he has had a title forever

Before the Peter fight he fought Castillo which was pretty weak..Peter might have not been weak physically but mentally and skillfully the guy had nothing...Peter is garbage who was a beast from his promoter my god guys like Hawkins are going the distance he shouldnt be taking C level fighters the distance for what his "power" is rumored to be at...But I've never thought much about Peter...Wladimir has fought decent opponents but more mediocre ones he is a decent heavyweight at best and thats what I will give him credit for...

On a side note, beating Byrd does nothing for him he already handed him his ass before and his style is tailor made for Wladimir he is light fisted and doesnt brawl....The true test for Wladimir will be to fight another champ like Rahman or Sergei who will stand with him...

Right but don't judge him on Byrd until you see what he follows it with. He wants Toney-Rock-Brewster, etc. afterwards then he deserves all the credit. If he wants to fight BS mandatories-then criticism is justified

I agree. 99% of the heavies are just that...heavy! Most don't even know the rudiments of boxing. The fundamental basics..the side to side..the counter...the block...and, wait for it..COMBINATIONS! The last heavy to fight with combos was Ali. Hollyfield in his day wasn't too bad as well.

I believe that the entire sport of boxing has been killed by:-
                1. Too many different boxing bodies. ie. WBO, WBC, etc.
There should be only ONE body. This would sort out the
chumps from the champs. For instance...how much longer is
Calzaghe gonna run from the true hitters and that goes for
a lot more of the other guys.
                2. There is far too much money being paid to boxers. It's no
longer a case of the sport being bigger than the man.

The promoters should be brought to book for their ridiculous matchings...bodies should be fined for allowing these fights to take place.

The only exciting fights today, are within the lower weight divisions. I rarely even watch the blundering heavies! This latest European 'invasion' may just be the wake up call that is needed in the division. Rahman? Baaaah..he's a joke!

I've been saying this for months, some of the up and coming Eastern European heavyweight fighters are no joke.

Pretty sure Calzaghe didn't run from a true hitter in March....
