Comments Thread For: Andre Ward To Remain at 168, Confirms Hunter

WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (28-0, 15KOs) returned on Saturday night, and wiped out Paul Smith in nine rounds at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. It was Ward's first fight since November of 2013, when he won a twelve round decision over Edwin Rodriguez.

The fight with Smith took place at a catch-weight of 172-pounds, but Smith blew the weight by over four pounds and then failed to make the rehydration limit on the morning of the fight. By the time they stepped in the ring, Smith was said to be a cruiserweight.

Sounds good. People better not come and say he's scared of Kovalev (or worse Stevenson and Pascal lmao). If he wants to stay at this weight, we have to respect that. New challenges have arisen for him at Super Middleweight. I think he might have a hard time getting the fights against the other champions there though.

That is cool and all but what is he going to do at 168?

Fighting DeGale I suppose would be alright. I don't think Steiglitz is leaving Germany but I suppose it could happen.

That would buy time in hopes Golovkin gets tired of being jerked around at 160.

I think Stieglitz or Chudinov are next.

I would hope he doesn't sit he has done enough of that, he needs to fight some of the top 168 pounders while he waits.

I got no problem with him staying at 168. I prefer fighters to hold there prefered weight class down.

But there isn't a fighter in the top 10 that I see HBO paying for, for him to fight.
