  • Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia, Top Rank Legal Battle Has No End in Sight

The last time Mikey Garcia (34-0, 28KOs) was in the ring was on the night of January 25th, 2014. Since that period he's been sidelined and in litigation versus his promoter Top Rank. And it doesn't look like he'll be fighting anytime soon until this legal situation is cleared up.

"Well, they're taking Todd (duBoef, president of Top Rank) deposition on Thursday, then they cancelled mine," said Arum, who's a bit bewildered by what's been taking place.

Every few months a big name leaves or tries to leave Top Rank.

I don't really know what's going on over there but I do believe that there's no smoke without fire.

Fighters are smarter and more financially conscious now, the days of them signing bad deals coz they know no better are over. We all know that with the TV networks playing as big a part as they now do & the power of social media promoters aren't needed as much they were.

Top Rank & Golden Boy need to wake up and smell the coffee...its a new day. All they have is their relationship with HBO otherwise theyd be a lot worse off right now

If they don't switch up their act they're gonna lose everyone to Haymon & RocNation --- they pay a lot better

Lol. ****** comments on this thread already and there's only been a handful of posts so far..

Mikey is still an unknown in the boxing world. Only hardcore fans know him.. Yes it's boxing is business but it's you don't need to be ****** and throw your career away before it way off even getting started. Top rank has built many many careers in the last 20 to 30 years. Mikey would do well to stay with top rank. He needs to get his head out of his ass and realise boxing is only a cheque cashing in business if you're fighting..

Im actually baffled as to who is advising Mikey Garcia. Why isn't his brother Robert telling him to get the fack in the gym and stop pissing your career away.

He's not the only fighter that had problems with Arum and thought that Arum was shortchanging him, Floyd Mayweather bought out his contract after he was offered a lame 8 million in a fight that would've created 30-40 million against Margarito, Arum wanted to get like a 40% cut from Mayweather AND from Margarito. Floyd is the only one who escaped Arum unscathed, the same problem happened with Dela Hoya and when Dela Hoya showed that he wanted to leave Arum Arum made him fight Tito Trinidad so that he can cash out from him and of course he made sure he got robbed, Cotto was thinking about leaving and again Arum made him fight Margarito and took a huge cut to cash out from Cotto and probably knew Margarito had them plaster, he always wants to keep the money in house so when Margarito beats Cotto he becomes the big name that's still with Arum, same happened with Pacquiao in 2012 when his contract was about to run out so Arum got him in there with one of his young up and coming stars and paid Pacquiao only 8 million and made sure Pacquiao gets robbed so that in case he left it won't matter cuz he has the guy that beat him. This is how Arum operates and how he's been operating for years, now wonder why he had problems with all his fighters who understand the business of boxing, Dela Hoya left him and became the highest paid boxer, Mayweather left and became the highest paid athlete in the world, Cotto left and now he just signed a 60 mill dollar deal after people thought his career was over in 2009, Pacquiao's manager should've advised Pacquiao to leave Arum since he's already so popular that he doesn't need Arum, he can promote himself, but Michael KONMAN is not about that.
