Lomachenko's camp are not worried about that, they're worried about fighting a guy that will outweigh them a lot on fight night, which is something that all fighters have to face, it's like Mayweather turning down Corrales or Pacquiao turning down Margarito cuz they are bigger than them, it's a ridiculous excuse.
No, you know what would be a ridiculous excuse? If Walters made weight and Loma's team didn't want to fight him. If that were the case, then I would agree and say it's a duck. But that's not the case so stop acting like an idiot.
There is only one fighter that has missed weight and it wasn't Loma, so it shouldn't be a worry for Walters.

Canelo was 165 on fight night. That's the thing, Walters didn't make the contracted weight now did he? Like I said instead of complaining, Walters should try to return ASAP and try to make 126.
This fight was going to happen if Walters made weight, but now all of the sudden let's blame Loma because he doesn't want to move up to satisfy Walters.
I would say it's a duck if Walters made the weight and Loma's team used the rehydration as an excuse, but right now it's a risk because they don't know if Walters could still make weight!

          • Loma isn't officially avoiding Walters because he'll be bigger, he's avoiding him because he doesn't have the title anymore. But he must know no one believes that. Loma needs to fight Walters and erase all doubt. Walters can still make weight. Weight is not the issue. Arum must think Walters derails all the work he puts into Loma. I highly doubt Loma is afraid of Walters or anyone. Remember people: Walters and Loma are both promoted by Arum.

Maybe Arum thinks it makes most financial sense to keep these two apart (typical)... They dangle the juicy matchup in front of us, and then backtrack... that's boxing for ya.

            • So basically he will fight anyone less talented and smaller than him, but as soon as a guy in his weight class appear to be bigger, that's all she wrote, ppl walters missed his weight by one pound, I'm pretty sure he could make 126 again given the proper time to trim that one pound and make the weight, for a lomachenko fight, *****...

We could give him the benefit of the doubt, but you're also making assumptions. We don't know for sure if he could still make it, yeah he was only 1.4 pounds over but maybe he struggled like heck to get there. I can't remember where I read it, but apparently he went up to 160+ during the holidays. There is a reason why he didn't fight in March, not because of the flu but they probably knew he couldn't make weight (I'm assuming of course), especially that early. Walters had 6 months to get to 126 and still couldn't make it. Sometimes your body just can't do it anymore. Walters is probably in the 150's right now, think about it he was already 145 in the morning of the Marriaga fight, pretty sure he had a few meals even that day. Unless he went back to training the day after, he's probably in the 150's right now. Even after the fight Walters said he wasn't sure if he was going back to 126.
People are acting like we Loma fans are trying to protect Loma from this fight, I was really excited for it. The only thing that worries me about Walters is that power. Loma's team wanted the fight before the missing of the weight happened. If Walters made weight and Loma's team said, "No we don't want that fight", then I would agree and say it's a duck. I remember it was Walters that wasn't to keen on the fight at first, I wasn't saying, "Walters is scared, he's a p*ssy". No, I said maybe he wants to wait for the fight to get a little bigger (he had to have a reason). People are so fast to assume a fighter is scared of another without thinking about the circumstances.

                • This is a clear duck, but Walters only has himself to blame. IMHO I think the reason not many are too upset about this news is because they are Lomachenko fans and dont care who he fights because to them he's the second coming. He can do no harm I dont know if being white has anything to do with it but it is a little interesting how these eastern uropean fighters are becoming instant stars in some minds after fighting a handful of pro fights.

                  • I am still of the thought that Lomachenko while very good can be even better and chasing after a big fight too soon is not that great for his longer term development.

There are plenty of solid guys Lomachenko can fight against while still growing into his pro style and they don't have to be big names.

Who's claiming Loma as a star and the second coming? So it's bad for a fighter to have fans now? Just look at this thread alone there was more hate towards Loma. So it's Loma's fault Walters didn't make weight, if Walters made weight and they said they didn't want to fight him then I would agree that it's probably a duck but that's not the case.
