  • Comments Thread For: Gennady Golovkin To Fight Four Times in 2015?

Gennady Golovkin has been one of the most active fighters at the world class level since making his debut in the United States in 2012. The plan coming into this year was again to keep that brisk pace of fights. The goal was to fight four times as they did in 2013. Is that still the goal?

"That's the way it started out, he had two fights before the end of May in 2015. Right now, it really depends on who is available, the HBO schedule. So it's unclear as of right now what the fall schedule will be like but within the next couple of weeks we'll get a good idea on when his next fight will be and who it will be against," said the Managing Director of K2 Promotions, Tom Loeffler.

Fair play to Golovkin for fighting often. In an era where top fighters only fight once a year at times, MAYBE twice a year, GGG is fighting 4 times a year. This is what I like to see from fighters.

Not all of the opponents will be the very best opponent he can fight, but they are all worthy challengers who can potentially cause trouble and they come ready to fight.

His 2015 would be a big disappointment if it ends up being Murray, Monroe, Heiland, Johnson. Hopefully he secures a big name for his resume this year.

Idc how many times he fights if his opposition is as crappy as it has been. Who is he fighting. That's what matters

I like watching Golovkin fight. So, yes i'd rather see him in these 'stay busy' fights, rather than not at all. Fighting the likes of Geale, Murray and Monroe 4 times a year is decent going. They are good enough fighters for those kind of fights.

Everything hinges on him facing the Cotto Vs Canelo winner though. He needs that big name fight now. So, if that one can't be made..he may well have to move up a division to get the bigger fights.

Out of interest, who would people want to see him face if the Cotto or Canelo fight can't be made? (Although he would probably face whoever the WBC chose if Cotto vacated).

160 : Quillin. Lee Vs Saunders winner. N'Dam vs Lemeiux winner.
168 : Ward (i wouldn't back on this fight being made). Froch ( i imagine he will retire). Abraham Vs Stieglitz winner. DeGale. Groves. Dirrell?

Can't wait until GGG moves up and all of a sudden the SMW division becomes "weak" according to the morons

You should know that Lara doesn't fight on HBO(they won't even call Tom Loeffler) and that Andy Lee is defending his WBO belt against Billy Joe Saunders in Sept.

that's the problem bro...you dudes give him these "CAN" passes because of this crazy infatuation ya'll have with him....he's not going to get any ELITE level fights at 160....he's knocking on doors but nobody is opening up and allowing him in the house....but there's a welcome mat for him at 168 but some weird reason he's ASKING for fights with 147-154 pounders

GGG has been on his "CAN TOUR" too long....he's not gonna cash a big check any time soon....he's too big and too risky for the money trains he's been campaigning for....it is what it is!!
