  • Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Coach: Cotto Wants Nothing To Do With GGG

Talks are ongoing to for Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs) to step aside from his mandatory shot at WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto.

The Puerto Rican star is looking to defense his world title this fall in a very high profile fight against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez of Mexico.

Golovkin, who holds the WBA/IBO titles, is not necessarily looking to fight Cotto - but actually wants to fight whoever holds the WBC title to unify the entire division.

This is the ugly truth that too much of boxing is today. And instead of the WBC working to set things right, it instead employs a strategy of non intervention. Bravo, WBC. Bravo! If you were a monarch, (rather than a sanctioning body), you'd be classified not only as impotent, but also sterile.

Of course he doesn't want anything to do with GGG. He will get knocked the f$&k out. And because cotto has heart he will try to go toe to toe and get hurt in the process. Best to keep away from GGG.
Cotto needs to head back down to junior middleweight and vacate the belt.

These so called tomato cans have what Cotto is missing, pride and guts.

Also any of Golovkin last opponents were better than the fighters Cotto defeated in the last 5 years, did he even beat any fighter who wasnt injured, drained or totally washed up? Whenever Cotto steppped up he got beat and beat up.

Look I'm not the biggest GGG fan but he has beaten Geale, Macklin and Murray, the leading middleweight contenders around. Quillin won't fight him and GGG is mandatory for the belt Cotto had...but considering he isn't a middleweight, why doesn't he drop the title?

I honestly don't think GGG should accept the step aside money unless it's in the region of a big payment, 5 million dollars or so.

GGG best win is Geale who Cotto destroyed in a more impressive manner. Cotto dropped him clean with one punch.

                  Cotto's resume at 160 >anything GGG has done @ 160. Fact!
