And it also won't happen because of business. Showtime and HBO had a very hard time first to work together, a May-PAc calibre of fight needed for it, and even tht wasn't easy to make. No wy that a Golovin-Mayweather fightis big enough to make them work together again, Showtime makes more money from other opponents without share the income with HBO and HBO wouldn't let Golovkin to fight on Showtime just like they didn't let Duva to even bid for the Kovalev-Stevenson fight.
    Well said.

Last month, Golovkin stopped Willie Monroe Jr. in the sixth round to retain his WBA/IBO titles before a crowd of 12,000 at The Forum in Los Angeles.

Lately, Golovkin has called for a 'dream match' with Mayweather - and GGG is willing to drop down to 154-pounds to make it happen. Mayweather holds the WBC/WBA belts at junior middleweight.

      • Why the hell is MAYWEATHER even talking about golovkin if he won't fight him........it's ok saying you can beat him and take the test...but to say he can and not fight is pointless......I bet my house on golovkin breaking floyd down into little pieces after 8 rounds...he might be quicker afoot but at 38 he will have come of his toes sooner or later......floyd don't do it lol

Fighting someone 2 weight divisions below is a challenge apparently.

Ricky got ko'd in 2007. Get over it.

          • Golovkin would crush floyd.

Even if he wasn't landing cleanly it would hurt like he'll for a guy floyd size. He would bully mayweather all night. Floyd defense may hold up but it just wouldn't be enough.

He doesn't have to fight ggg but would I like to see it yes
Only because I guess I don't want to see floyd retire undefeated
Or I want to see how he takes a loss and comes back from it?

Never. You act like that's a bad thing. He'd be a favorite over everyone.

To answer your question any solid chinned, volume punching pressure fighter with a reach advantage on Floyd. Margarito and Williams of about 10 years ago, for starters. I think they'd be anathema to Floyd's amateurish point scoring style. Think Maidana, but not 5'7" with a short reach. Even that bloated 140 lber landed well over 200 punches on Floyd in the first fight.
Well yeah, Floyd was 37. Not quite a fair comparison. But in a 19 year career you mentioned two people as fighters he should have fought. Pretty good.

All the ATGs moved up to 160...

And the number 1 reason Floyd should do it: Floyd said he'd go up to 160 to fight Trinidad years ago if Tito came back... So no reason he can't fight Triple G at 155-160...unless he was just cherry-picking Tito at 160..ATGs don't cherry-pick though..
I don't like to thrash people on the internet but this is somehow dumb, Floyd was coming off a 2 year layoff against Marquez and didn't want to drain himself to make weight, he knew that in the contract it said he can come in overweight and pay a fine and he did that, plus weight had nothing to do with how the fight played out, he never used his weight advantage over Marquez in the first place.

All ATGs moved to 160? yeah, but did they all start at 130? absolutely not, u saw Floyd Mayweather doing interviews in his gym, he looked thinner than Porter who's about to fight in 2 days, no way he's weighing more than 152-153 right now and now he's not training, at the 30 day weigh in for the Pacquiao fight and even for the Canelo fight where he was supposed to be heavy he weighed 150 lbs, the man has NO business moving up to 160 at 38 when he never managed to make 154 when he even tried to.

I don't recall anything about Tito but a fight with him would generate more money and Floyd would beat him even at 175, it's just a showcase fight between 2 legends, not for competition of for titles and Tito's inactivity and being washed up will be made up by the huge size advantage he's gonna have on fight night, against GGG it's a different story, if Floyd goes up to 160 to fight GGG this is not a fair fight, GGG is at his best day and Floyd is about to retire, add that to the huge 20+ lbs weight advantage GGG will have over Floyd on fight night, this makes it an unfair fight, a catchweight of 156-157 would balance things out though, would love to see that fight at 157.

My guess, the Kovalev bandwagon would suddenly be full of ex Manny and ex GGG fans.
