the A Side calling up the B Side to make a fight? Actually Lara isnt even a ****ing B SideIf HBO wouldn't be willing to step aside for Stevenson-Kovalev, what sense is there in expecting them to step aside for Golovkin-Lara, a fight that delivers far less money while also being a bad style matchup for the star that they're trying to build?
Golovkin is signed to an exclusive deal with HBO, HBO seems committed to putting Golovkin out as often as possible (four times a year, regardless of how ****ty the opposition), and HBO is increasing the amount of resources that they are willing to put behind Golovkin (Golovkin's last fight had total fighter payouts of nearly $2m).
Looking at things honestly, logic would have K2 call Lara's management team and state "We have a date on HBO for September/October and we're willing to pay [X] as the purse for the fight; is that a fight that Lara wants?".
K2 hasn't made that move yet, and will likely not make that move at any point ever; Heiland and Johnson will sign to fight each other, K2 will pick off another non-entity as an opponent, and the Golovkin hype machine will try to sell that fight as some epic test for their wrecking machine, as Golovkin goes on to crush another can.

I'm gonna say this on the matter and that's it, their is no challenges at 160 for GGG and with Froch retiring if he doesn't move up before Ward does I will not ever view GGG in the same light I used too. The image I had of GGG willing to face anyone is fading, fading fast. I'm losing all respect for him hanging around to face JMW's and MW's his KO'd opponents have already destroyed.
This is tiring now, recycle, repeat, reprocess. K2 can take a hike.Comment

they're not excuses, they're explanations. fighters don't control their destinies in this sport - at least not until their brand becomes large enough that they are able to sell themselves. but there are probably fewer than a handful of fighters in the sport at any given time who fall into that category. in the current political climate of boxing, fighters' options are predetermined by the networks, the sanctioning bodies and the promoters. if you want to make a difference, or consider yourself an 'enlightened' boxing fan, then your beef is with them, not the boxers
pbc's model is a step in the right direction in some ways (and less so in others), but hopefully even if it ultimately fails the landscape will look a little different afterwards. i wish a few boxers would read some marx and unionise lolComment

What does that have to do with anything I said? Contact Lara's team and start trying to make the fight. Contact HBO and find out if they're willing. Work to make the fight yourself. Don't make a thousand excuses why you shouldn't even bother.
There are so many Golovkin fans that sound like scared little girls. "B-b-b-but HBO and 1-1-1-1-160! H-Haymon doe!"Comment
