I couldn't see him winning but considering he called for the fight- I'd definitely be intrigued to see how it looks. I could see Golovkin possibly losing a UD to someone slick and smart. I'd like to see GGG have to cut the ring against someone with excellent foot work and distance.
Well said. This fight intrigues me as well (for the very same reasons you presented).

Maybe they call HBO and ask if they will let Lara on their network?
Need to get this ball rolling, if this is the fight Lara really wants(it isn't)
In this scenario, Lara is the opponent.

When, in the history of history has the opponent called the shot for anything in boxing? Even Floyd Mayweather Jr, no matter how hard he campaigned for the Oscar fight and how many fighters he beat while he campaigned for the Oscar, had to wait till Oscar made the call, and let Oscar call every shot.

K2 has the TV date, K2 has the relationship with HBO; why is Lara supposed to be different? Marco Antonio Rubio didn't run to HBO and say that he wanted to fight Golovkin; if he had, he would've been roundly dismissed.

K2 talked to HBO, K2 secured the date, and then K2 called the opponent; unless HBO is flatly refusing to even have opponents come over with ties to Haymon, why isn't the same procedure being done with Lara as has been the case in every other instance? (Lara doesn't come with a promoter, so there's no need to worry about negotiating over the logistics of the fight or anything; K2 negotiates an offer with Haymon, Haymon takes the offer to Team Lara, and Lara says yay or nay on the fight)

Lara can't draw flies to ****(and this is coming from one of his fans) so if he really wants the fight, the least that he could do is tell his management to call gggs people and try to start negotiations. Lara literally has no leverage over ggg,and with the numbers he did on Friday, ggg fighting Monroe seems like may-pac numbers. But its really easy to go 12 rounds with a guy who cotto destroyed in 3,and call out mayweather, canelo, and ggg,and just sit back and wait for offers to come pouring in.
Golovkin is looking for the fight, Golovkin already has a deal with HBO that, in essence, allows him to fight as many times as he want, and Golovkin is now being backed by $2m event payouts by HBO. Team Golovkin holds all the cards here.

When you hold all of the cards, you have the reign to pick who you want to fight. If Golovkin simply doesn't want to fight, move on to another opponent and deal with the heat that will come with fighting another can.

Floyd Mayweather Jr could fight whomever the **** he wants at this point; if he wanted to fight "K9" Bundrage, there's nothing that could be done to prevent Floyd from getting that fight, other than Bundrage saying no.

I fail to see why Golovkin-Lara would be any different, other than for Golovkin being a chicken****.

Lara's management would call K2 and say "we are interested at 160 and are free to fight on HBO". Then, if interested in taking it further, K2 (the lead promoter) would approach HBO to see if they would approve Lara, and if so how much they would pay for the rights fee. Then K2 would present an actual purse offer to Laras people based on what HBO was offering.

It seems that other than twitter posts, step 1 hasnt happened yet
So Willie Monroe made the first call to K2 to make their fight? GTFOH

          The typical process would be:

-K2 figures out a shortlist of possible opponents that Golovkin would fight
-K2 checks if the opponents are options for HBO and locks in the HBO date
-K2, starting with their first option, makes the call to the respective opponents management/promoter to see if they'd be up for the fight.
-If the opponent is receptive, negotiations for purses begin; if the opponent is uninterested in the fight, things move to the next opponent on the list

I know folks want to view Golovkin as being special but c'mon.

          • Has Lara told his manager Haymon about his interest in fighting GGG? What move has he taken so far to get GG? You can't just say you want a job without filling up an application. It's ******. Beggars can't be choosers.

And what's so hard about contacting GG's people?
