There's no one else who can compete with Canelo vs Cotto, this is the perfect opportunity for either fighter to take the throne.
Cotto is not as young as Canelo. Cotto is thinking now. And now doesnt include an opportunity to take over as PPV king, its to make the most money everytime out.

      Completely disagree.

Cotto has a few fights left, and if he wins, it's perfect leverage to land a Mayweather fight.

Same for Canelo, or who ever wins.

You didn't answer the question. Try again.

Can Cotto maximize his earnings by doing a split ppv date? A simple yes or no then followed by your explanation.

I don't care "who takes over as the PPV attraction". Cotto is gonna probably retire one fight AFTER the canelo fight. So, imo he wouldn't care about "beating floyd at the ppv sales".

After Canleo Cotto has ONE fight left on his contract.

The big difference is it will cost HBO far less money for their PPV then it will Showtime. Canelo and Cotto combined will make far less money then it will cost Showtime to pay just Mayweather. Showtime gave a ridiculous guarantee contract to Mayweather so he alone takes up so much money so they need every PPV buy to try and recoup. Which is why they lost money in 3 out of the 5 fights Mayweather has had on Showtime. Canelo and Pacman are the only Mayweather fights on Showtime that made money the rest while they sold somewhere around 800k buys would be great for any other PPV fight but when you paying Mayweather 30 mil plus you need 1-1.5mil PPV buys to make a profit. HBO will pay Canelo and Cotto much less and because of that need less PPV sales to make a profit. Again Showtime has more to lose with a head to head PPV clash. If Canelo vs Cotto takes even 25% of a already low avg 800K buys from Mayweather that is a catastrophic money loss for Showtime. Canelo vs Cotto on a different date then Mayweather generates more money but it's clear it hurts Showtime more then HBO. HBO will stay make money if they go head to head, Showtime will not

Yeah so fight someone else not named Canelo for what 1/4th the guarantee pay makes more sense. Canelo and Cotto will get a guaranteed contract and then additional money if the fight over achieves. Same how even with all these loses Showtime gets with Mayweather, Mayweather still gets paid because of his contract. The network loses if it goes head to head not really the fighters. Cotto has already turned down 2 career paydays from Canelo. Turning down a 3rd fight only hurts Cotto. He's the one getting up there in age and one loss probably sends him into retirement. Canelo is only 24 he's got time on his side and is already the bigger Star and box office draw then Cotto right now. Check the HBO ratings for both guys and PPV numbers against Mayweather.

the guy with the foxworthy picture is freakin incompetent..cottocanelo holds no weight in nowhere but mexico/pr and latins...PR will not support canelo if he wins..mexico willn ot buy cotto if he wins..how the hell do they become ppv kings? and i've yet to mention that casuals likely wont buy this fight..they only buy floyd fights!

cotto has not shot to be a ppv ppl see him as to beatable..
canelo wont fight anyone to sell us ppv outside of cotto now that he's proven to himself he cant win fairly..the time of oscar is over..if he wanted to be a ppv king he should have beat floyd...300k does not lie..

floyd went from 300k to 2 millionp lus with oscar...a win secured him more ppv well over 300k...a lost would do to him wat it done to canelo...regular hbo..or low numbers...HE IS NOT THE START U MAKE HIM OUT TO BE..

They'll probably have to move Verdejo up the card soon or put him on card with someone who is also popular like GGG. Most of those fans were there to see him and him alone. They stuck around for the Walters fight (which I thought was damn good), but it drew boos because the Verdejo show was already over. I don't think they would have had that reaction if it was the opening bout.
