I dont think wilder is a bum but he seems very vulnerable to me. if he beats povetkin it would surprise the hell out of me and hed deserve alot of credit

All fighters seem vulnerable at times. Did Fury not seem vulnerable when Cunningham put his butt on the canvas? Did Povetkin not seem vulnerable in his life and death struggle with Huck? Did Wlad not seem vulnerable when he was getting stopped by Lamon Brewster? Povetkin is roadkill against Wilder and he knows it. Povetkin wins most of his fights by simply outworking his opponent. He won't outwork Wilder and will be punching air all night while eating jabs and the nastiest right hand in boxing.

Let us all pray for him..

Well everyone is calling Wilder a bum and overrated because of a fight he dominated outside of five punches in Molina so there is that.

I think Wilder can easily beat Povetkin and will when the fight is ready. We haven't hear anything from Team Povetkin either so who knows what they are thinking..

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Wilder has to face an opponent from the top 15 from the WBC rankings. Here's the list:

1 .- Alexander Povetkin (Russia) SILVER
2 .- Anthony Joshua (GB) INTL
3 .- Vyacheslav Glazkov (Ukraine)
4 .- Bermane Stiverne (Haiti/Canada)
5 .- Bryant Jennings (US)
6 .- Lucas Browne (Australia)
7 .- Eric Molina (US)
8 .- Andy Ruiz (Mexico) NABF
9 .- Artur Szpilka (Poland)
10 .- Carlos Takam (Cameroon)

Ideally, I'd select someone like Glazkov or Thompson; but it's likely that they'll pick Arreola, Duhaupas, Ruiz or Szpilka. Kyotaro Fujimoto is fighting in August against Joseph Parker so I excluded him.

Glazkov is waiting for his Wlad shot. No way in hizell he's going to fight Wilder right now..

I don't think that's the issue for most (him not fighting Povetkin in September). It's that he'll likely fight some nobody .

A big guy, like Ustinov or Wach, would be useful if Wilder is serious about a potential match up with Wladimir down the line.

My fear is that it'll be another no-hoper.

Wilder is at worst, the No 4 HW in the world. Most people are going to be no-hopers against him..

Holyfield did, indeed, OVER TIME fight all comers.

But when he first won the heavyweight title, his first three defenses were against two over-40 heavyweights -- Foreman and Holmes -- and Bert Cooper.

He didn't look any better against Cooper than Wilder did against Molina.

In retrospect the Foreman defense looks more credible than it did at the time, but only because Big George later beat Moorer.

No. Holyfield fought everyone from the moment he was champ.

Please don't compare any of his fights to Molina, because you would be talking straight nonsense.

That all I'm saying!! There's absolutely zero rush. Why not grab Arreola and get in there for some very hard sparring. Work on that backing straight up stuff. Work the defense a little. This fight isn't happening in 2015 let's be honest. Better than staying inactive..

I applaud Team Wilder for procrastinating the Povetkin fight and taking a 'stay busy fight' in the interim. Let's face it (well, I think we already have): Wilder has flaws in his game and he'll need to tighten up and refine things before he faces Povetkin. If the WBC wants negotiations to take place in October (there was a news article here last week stating that) then why waste time sitting on the sidelines when he can be in the ring getting experience and working out the kinks in his game.

Also, to Laceup's point, if Povetkin wants this fight so bad why hasn't he said he'll fight Wilder in September? Also, if Wilder does fight in September I wonder if Povetkin will take a tuneup as well (as if he really needs a tuneup)?
