Originally posted by BWC View Posthaha what total BS. Want to know who Frazier's first title defenses were? Dave Zyglewicz and Jerry Quarry..
I will start by saying that Ali was the true HW champ and Frazier was defending the NYSAC belt when he fought Jerry in his 23rd fight. You also make it sound like Jerry Quarry was some scrub. When in fact he only had two loses when he fought Joe. He was also a Ring top ten fighter for the better part of a decade to include when he fought Frazier.
Frazier also fought Oscar Bonavena in his 12th fight and George Chuvalo in his 17th fight. He also fought Manuel Ramos in his 20th fight and Oscar again in his 21st fight. What do they all have in common? They were all Ring top ten fighters when they fought Joe.
Joe also fought Jimmy Ellis in a unification fight in his 24th fight and Hall of Fame Light Heavy Champ Bob Foster in his 25th fight. He then won recognition as the true World Heavyweight Champions when he beat Ali in his 26th fight.
Lets run those numbers again. Frazier beat five Ring top ten fighters in his first 25 fights and then beat Ali for the true HW Championship in only his 26th fight. Wilder has how many fights, 34? And he has beaten how many top ten fighters? Well, that would be just one, Stiverne.
With that said, you really should stop insulting the memory of the great Smokin Joe Frazier by comparing him in anyway shape or form to Wilder. I also have to ask does the PBC Public Relations department pay you overtime for all the work you are doing for them??
