Fight Kovalev and be sent packing. Get carried out on a stretcher and shut your Diva ass up.

Ward is supremely skillful and excels at smothering and controlling distance which I could see him implementing well against a (even slightly) slower opponent.
Kovalev is a MUCH more superior boxer than the Diva Girl from the Hole Called Oakland, I'd pick B Hop to out box the Diva. I pick GGG to brutalize him and Kovalev beats him bloody and Kos him

Ward needs to step up now. SMW is a waste land.

The most feared light heavyweight...pitched a virtual shutout against Bernard Hopkins...beat Hopkins at his own waiting game...stopped Pascal...Adonis Stevenson wants no part of him...invented a new taunt, the pelvic thrust, in response to an opponent waving him in
he is the best LH untill he faces WOLF Beterbiev.

If Ward goes to 175 and fights Kovalev, I'll shut my mouth forever about Ward.

If anybody thinks Kovalev would beat Ward, clearly you are a closet UFC fan. Kovalev is awesome but search the history of boxing. It has always been and always will be about the "Sweet Science", not brawling. All of the great sluggers of the past were almost without exception bested by a great boxer.

In other words, when a great slugger/puncher faces a great boxer, the boxer usually wins 9x out of 10. This is not true in every case but it has been true far often than not.

Ironic you say that giving all the clinching, mauling, and headbutting Ward does.

"Fighting at 172 is just to see how my body feels. Where is the safest place for me to be, is it 168...can I go up to 175? I know its a piece that some may not care about, but it's a piece that I have to look at from my standpoint, because once I go up to 175 I'm not going to be a super middleweight fighting at 175. I'm going to be a full-fledged light heavyweight and there is no coming down," Ward told BoxingScene.com.

We know Ward, that's why you had Dawson come down to 168 right?

So in other words, he'll stay at 168 for as long as he's physically able. Once he goes up to 175, he won't be coming back down.

With all this talking he's doing, I expect to see a very motivated Ward against Paul Smith, ready to kick ass and take names. If this ends up like Lara/Rodriguez, I'm going to be very disappointed.

I don't see why not. Online communities like to give the guy ****, but he's a pretty big name throughout Northern California (RocNation is doing a pretty decent job of making the fight visible in the area and, this is new to me, CSN Bay Area are also throwing some weight behind pushing the fight).

Beyond that, Ward already did over $700k at the gate for his last fight in Oakland with Dawson, three years ago.

The Warriors have the Bay Area buzzing (with Oracle likely marketing upcoming events), and fans have been longing to see Ward fight again. not that much of a stretch.
