Yeah it was totally just Dawson's idea out of the clear blue sky to drain himself down to 168 lol.
Team Ward scumbags get real salty when Gary lets the cat out of the bag about who requested the fight at 168

Kovalev/Ward is a great, great fight. I'd like to see Ward/Golovkin 1st, but I'll take either one.Comment

Ward is turning into boxing's biggest hypocrite.LMAO... Ward said he'd go up to LHW for the right fight back in December 2011. Today he's still saying "at the right time".
How can Ward fans/GGG haters not find this ironic? Ward cries GGG is scared and then he turns around and says he needs tune ups, then he needs to acclimate to LHW, then he'll maybe fight Kovalev.
He ripped GGG for talking about him then trying to make fights with Chavez and Froch at SMW. According to Andre, they side-stepped him by doing that- even though he wasn't available.
Then, after talking about Kovalev, he moves up to LHW - at a CW against another SMW. WTF?
He also ripped GGG - who is smaller than him, remember - for talking about fighting smaller guys. Including Floyd, who Andre himself has talked about fighting.
He's also been criticizing the poor quality of GGG's opponents - while getting ready to fight Paul Smith himself. Again - WTF Andre?Comment

Wow, at 4:50 somebody needs to slap Virgil in the face.
But yeah, Chad said he could fight Andre at 168 on tv after he beat Hopkins, and Ward opportunistically held him to it. Even when Dawson was struggling to cut the weight and requested a 170lb catch weight, Ward denied it.Comment

the healthiest thing for your body is not to get in the ring with KOvalev. stay at 168, waiting for the MW to come up for youComment

Yes we all seen Dawson get on camera and open his dumbass mouth.Wow, at 4:50 somebody needs to slap Virgil in the face.
But yeah, Chad said he could fight Andre at 168 on tv after he beat Hopkins, and Ward opportunistically held him to it. Even when Dawson was struggling to cut the weight and requested a 170lb catch weight, Ward denied it.
I'm not naive enough to believe that was his idea right there on the spot.
That fight never would've happened unless Dawson came down, imo.Comment

my man....he said ALL the right things....SOG vs Krusher is a REAL fight!!...can't wait for that to bubbleWBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (27-0, 14KOs) is less than week away from his scheduled return. Ward, who's been out of the ring since November 2013, is back in the ring on June 20th against Paul Smith at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. The fight will headline Roc Nation Sports' first televised event on BET.
Ward is returning on a new network, with a new promoter, and a rugged opponent. But, most fans are more fixated on Ward's return weight. The fight with Smith is taking place at a catch-weight of 172-pounds.
