Well, while it is correct Loma had a hard time dealing with the size, he still was in the fight all the way to the end and actually outlasted Salido in terms of finishing far stronger. Taking into account all the low blows and dirty tactics, it is a testament to Loma that he still had the energy for a late rally at the end. But the acumen he got in that fight will serve him well...he didn't complain and let Salido get away with too much. Anyway, I don't think his second fight should be taken into account now - it was more poor gameplan rather than lack of ability or a struggle. Let's not forget Loma outlanded Salido overall.
Lara and Rigo calling out GGG, Walters on Twitter. + Verdejo-Loma possible soon?

Lol, Tarver....
If Golovkin can't get Froch, DeGale, or Lemieux then he'll serve fresh Lara on the menu in San Antonio.Comment

Lara would pose major problems for GGG. GGG is slower than Canelo and Lara would NEVER plant his feet like he did vs Angulo. That being said I still think GGG would clip Lara and finish him but there's no doubt it would be GGG's best opponent, and it would not be easy.Comment

Yeah, you're probably right. If for some reason Rigo were to get the fight with Walters, he better request a rehydration clause. Can't let Walters rehydrate almost 20 pounds over night!! Maybe future Walter opponents would make him do that, surprised Marriaga didn't do that especially since Walters didn't make weight.I think it's probably Rigo's handlers using this as a ploy to make it seem as if Rigo is up for fighting anyone, even moving up, and keeping up this image that he is avoided. Has to keep relevant somehow...
Loma v Verdejo in the pros would be great. That was one of Loma's more high profile and difficult am fights, great matchup of the Cuban v Eastern European boxing schools.
Lara v GGG is a good appetiser for GGG v Canelo/Cotto, depending on how everything plays out.
Verdejo held his own against Loma at the Olympics, but Loma was in control through out. I would love to see Loma vs Pedraza and Verdejo!Last edited by HI-TECH Boxing; 06-14-2015, 08:44 PM.Comment

Yeah I feel the same way. Dude is basically doing the same thing Donaire was doing, draining himself to pick on smaller fighters.
Walters would beat Loma with that size advantage he has, I would rather he fight Gamboa since bith have trouble making 126. That would be a good fight for as long as it last. I also wouldn't mind a Gamboa/Loma/Verdejo fight.Comment

Damn! Los Cubanos talking ****! I think Walters vs Verdejo is the fight to be made in the futureComment

Lara wants the fight badly; Rigondeaux is simply trying to get his name out there
Rigo isn't even willing to go up to 126; what makes you think he's go to even 128 for Walters?
Lara thinks he can beat Golovkin, isn't really a TV/ticket draw in his own right (no real reason for Haymon to bar the fight from happening), and is basically out of marketable fights at 154.
K2 simply needs to make an offer for the fight; payouts to the fighters for the Golovkin-Monroe card amounted to just short of $1.9m, so HBO seemingly put up a good amount of money.
If K2 puts forward a valid offer, Golovkin steps in with a fighter coming to the table as a known quality and a guy with ability; if the can't put forward an offer, Golovkin feasts on another soft touch.Comment

I seriously doubt they're worried at all about Lara. He's smaller, his chin isn't the greatest and he doesn't have the power to keep Golovkin off him. To me it's a mismatch in GGG's favor, but we'll see what happens.
Agreed on both counts. Maybe Lemieux would be 'better' but if he is tied up with N'dam, might as well give Lara a shot in the meantime...probably GGG's team don't really want it though as it is an awkward style to deal with and would be a difficult fight for GGG to look good in.Comment
