Comments Thread For: Molina: Wilder is a Great Fighter, I Brought Everything

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder had a little bit more trouble than he expected, stopping 50-1 underdog Eric Molina in the ninth round of their showdown on Saturday night at Bartow Arena, a short drive from his hometown.

Wilder (34-0) delivered a right hand that turned Molina around and sent him falling on his back. The referee quickly signaled that the fight was over, probably several rounds later than many observers anticipated with Wilder a heavy favorite.

    Deontay exposed

Wilder looks very beatable. If a fighter of Molina's caliber could rock him like that, imagine the kind of damage someone like Chris Arreola or Alexander Povetkin would do to him.

So glad Povetkin is mandatory for the WBC strap. Another American HW hope is about to be exposed/flattened.

What HW is going to say that he was smacked around by a bum? I'm not sure that Eric Molina knows what "a great fighter" is.

Like I've been saying time and time again Wilder is hype train. Yea beat Stiverne...but I rate Stiverne C class fighter who won the WBC by beating arreola lmao! Wilder is not and will not be the next dominant hw. His reckless flailing throws and moving backwards is asking for him to get KTFO. Klitchko would wipe the floor with this dude and so would Anthony Joshua.

            ^^^ SSSSOOOO This!!!

I am so glad that Povetkin is the mandatory for the belt!

Otherwise we would see the WBC be permanently held from Europe.

There would forever after be a WESTERN HW champ and a GLOBAL one.

            Nice try from American officials..

-Organise 2 American fighters to fight for the relinquished belt from Vitali at the exclusion of Wladimir, the rightful challenger.

-Have those fighters ONLY defend against bummy yank boxers and duck global comp, parading themselves as legit champs.

            Thank **** for mandatories!

Povetkin will save the HW division from such madness by icing this talentless, uncharismatic and spineless bum Wilder!

            War Povetkin!

It's like Al Haymon is trying to build a cocoon for Wilder, and live in a Marvel Comics-esque Alternate Universe where he is THE Heavyweight Champion of the World. Has anyone seen the PBC/Showtime Promos for this fight?

They never make the clarification that he is the WBC Champ and simply called him The Heavyweight Champion. Wilder never mentions Wlad's name in public settings, and the interviewer's are instructed not to ask him about Wlad (so not to put any ideas into the American audiences head.)

So are you saying that only if youre the WBA CHAMP then youre a world champion...So when vitali had the belt, he wasnt a world champion, only his brother? Your hypocritial statements dont make any sense. Just admit you dont like HIM being champion, cause by your thinking, you can only be a world champion, if you hold all the belts. So when youre the WBC WORLD CHAMP you should only recognize the wbo and wba as world champ? Youre just a hater.

Yeah I was thinking Joshua could beat him even now, but once he gets the title he'll have a huge target on his back and he need to develop more before he's taking on the top contenders to the throne like Povetkin.

I get the feeling Wilder's handlers were set with the exact same scenario when Stiverne-Arreola were set to fight for the title, but Wilder's ceiling seems to be pretty low so they've cashed out on him and will eventually throw him to the wolves.
